A neighbor built a house. Rate a beautiful project

My neighbor in our village built in the 2019 season. wood concrete house. The T-shaped strip foundation was poured in 2018. Ground floors (backfilled).

I propose to see its result (permission received). Yes, there is still a lot of work, but the view of the house, even without the facade, is already bright and beautiful. All thanks to the competent project, the chosen design and the building materials used (roofing material in particular).

This is not the first wood concrete house in our village. Perhaps the choice was made due to the examples of neighbors. Here everyone decides for himself. A material with good heat-saving properties, but requires mandatory external plaster before moving in (blown by the wind).

He finished the work (closed the heating circuit) already at the beginning of winter, when there was already snow. The house was built by a team of builders who have proven themselves at the sites in our village. Windows look very nice on the floor. Yes, these are increased heat losses, but they are probably worth it.

Upon request "see the project of the house" - he provided me with a layout. House 132 m2. Optimally, no more is needed. The interfloor overlap is monolithic. Floor slabs could have been made cheaper, but the size of the house did not match the standard size of the slabs. And the fact that he did not do the wooden floors between the floors is right.

The attic floor with floor-to-ceiling windows also looks great. The dark profile of plastic windows matches the color of the roof. And the roof is worth highlighting separately. Roof - Shinglas soft tiles, Russian production, two-layer. Why exactly a soft roof, and not, say, metal or ondulin? After all, they will be cheaper. I asked these questions to the owner of the house and in the process of conversation and discussion, I received the following answers:

Ondulin. Material based on cellulose impregnated with bitumen. Pros: lightweight and inexpensive. But there are obvious disadvantages: the color literally fades in a couple of years (fades), in the scorching sun, with an incorrect roof lathing, it can bend. And its appearance is a'la slate, a wave. For owners who are building a house according to a project with a thoughtful design (as in this article), this is clearly not an option.

Metal tiles. Large selection of colors. Durability. Low cost. But reliable snow holders are needed - the snow constantly rolls down from the smooth metal tile. Especially with the first rays of the spring sun. Increased condensation formation under the roof. Reliable installation of vapor barrier films, thoughtful capillary drainage into the drain are required. Otherwise, the insulation will get wet and lose its properties. On hip roofs, up to 30% of the sheet material is scrapped.

And for mansard roofs, metal tiles are not an option. The roof will turn out to be very noisy - in any rain, and even more so in a downpour, the noise will penetrate under the roof. This is perhaps the most important disadvantage.

Flexible roofing lacks most of these drawbacks. Yes, it requires a base (usually from OSB sheets), an underlay (for guaranteed waterproofing). But on complex roofs there are no scraps during installation - almost the entire area of the material is used in the work.

The color of the tiles, which the owner of the house chose, is called Michigan. But there are other shades in the collection:

Country Michigan
Country Michigan
Country Alabama
Country Michigan
Country Arizona
Country Michigan
Country Atlanta
Country Michigan
Country Indiana
Country Michigan
Country Ontario
Country Michigan
Country Texas
Country Michigan
Country Utah
Country Michigan

More about the materialhere

The manufacturer gives a 50-year guarantee for such a tile! This is comparable to the lifespan of the house itself (at least until the house is overhauled).

As you can see from the photos above, the snow does not slip on the roof, it lasts until spring. And this is additional insulation of the attic.

Well, and, most importantly, a rich and unbroken look. The roof of the house stands out from the roofs of other houses in our village. Other neighbors in the group in the vibe of our village have already praised the owner of the construction site for the excellent design of the house and its overall appearance. I subscribe to this opinion.
