Making a beautiful concrete sink with your own hands
Good day, dear readers of my channel. Today we will make a sink for a bathroom or kitchen from ordinary concrete. The lesson is not simple and very dusty, but if you look at how much such sinks cost in the store, it is better to do it yourself.
Many different additives can be added to the cement slurry that will give the cement the desired color and can even mimic the structure of various types of stone, but we will not bother with this.
To make the sink, we need to make a shape into which we will pour concrete. In our case, the form is made of ordinary chipboard, in the photo is the inside of the sink. At this stage, you immediately form its future size and thickness.
Now we need to put the form in order. We round off the edges with angle grinders, grind the corners and remove various large obstacles. The appearance of the sink depends on how well this surface is prepared.
Next, we apply the putty on the wood. With its help, we smooth out all the cracks and form the final shape of the inner surface of the shell. After the putty has dried, we clean it with sandpaper. We need to achieve maximum surface smoothness.
Now we install the outer formwork. Note that the outer formwork must be taller than the inner mold, this distance will give us the thickness of the sink bottom. We twist the formwork with self-tapping screws.
We fix a piece of plastic pipe in advance in the place of the future drain, so that later we do not drill the concrete. We paint the inner surface with enamel otherwise the cement will stick to the putty.
We make reinforcement for the sink frame from a metal mesh. It is not necessary to use a mesh, you can twist something similar from pieces of wire. If you do not want unnecessary movements at all, then the wireframe mesh can be omitted. The sink load isn't that big. In the grid, we make a hole in advance for the drain.
Install the mesh into our pouring mold and make sure that it does not protrude beyond the edges of the formwork and will not stick out anywhere after pouring the concrete.
Then everything is simple, mix the solution and pour it into the mold. For reliability and soothing of the soul, plasticizers can be added to the solution.
After the solution was poured. It is necessary to tap the formwork with a hammer in order to create vibration to remove air bubbles. You will immediately see how they will come out. Tap until all the air is exhausted to the maximum.
We leave the product to freeze, after which we disassemble the formwork. We just disassemble it carefully, especially in the inside of the sink.
Surely, minor troubles in the form of shells will remain on the inner surface. To eliminate them, we make a liquid solution and cover with a thin layer. Each missed shell will then collect dirt in itself, so we approach the issue with full responsibility.
Then, using the angle grinder, we grind the surface of the sink, smooth the corners and direct a full marafet. The sink should be smooth.
That's all. Then we cover the sink with a primer and then with a special Primer. This is the kind of impregnation that protects the concrete from moisture. You can just paint it if you want.
I had an idea to fill it with liquid glass, but then I thought that it might crack from temperature changes.
It turns out such a beautiful shell texture. It is better to leave the shells on the outside, they look more beautiful.
That's all. Thank you for your attention, for like and subscribing to the channel. Your likes and comments motivate you to review different homemade products. See you in the next review and be healthy.
