I wanted to make a thermos out of PET bottles. But something went wrong

I decided to make a thermos from plastic bottles, it seemed like a very good idea as the material is waste, which means everyone can do it. In this version, the thermos was supposed to be used for cold and warm water.

Manufacturing

The idea was simple, to make a thermal shirt from a 2-liter bottle, inside which a 1-liter bottle will be placed.

Everything is elementary, we cut out the neck of a large container so that a small one can fit into it.

Then it remained to fill the space between the bottles with polyurethane foam, wait for it to dry and make the structure look less presentable, but ...

Error

Basically, craftsmen show successful products, skipping all the flaws and mistakes that have arisen in the process. Maybe this is correct, but I thought, why not show how everything happens.

The main mistake turned out to be that he filled in all the necessary foam at once. The top dried out and a cork was created, which blocked the rest of the foam, blocking its access to air. And the foam at the bottom remained in a liquid state and did not dry out, forming voids. I had to make holes for air to enter and restart the reaction, but that was not the same.

How to fix and improve

I will fix this homemade product, by what I do, I will cut it in the outer bottle and fill it with foam in parts. Next time I decided to fill the space in small portions, wait for them to solidify, and so on to the very top.

And before foaming, I'll paint over the container from the inside with white paint, which will reflect the sun's rays, keeping the cold inside. In order for the thermos to become suitable for hot water, I will install a glass bottle inside the thermal insulation.
