In the garden and in the greenhouse this spring
This spring was not particularly snowy, so water and nutrients will have to be added mechanically. This year I decided for myself that I would try to fertilize the land with green manure.
Siderata are plants that produce nitrogen and minerals using their root system, and subsequently by digging green mass into the ground. Siderates include:
- cruciferous (rapeseed, mustard, oil radish)
- cereals (wheat, rye, oats, barley, etc.)
-buckwheat
legumes (peas, alfalfa, clover, beans)
-phacelia
For myself, I decided to choose the relevant ones - wheat, alfalfa and phacelia.
I chose wheat because it helps to increase the amount of nitrogen, potassium, destroys the nematode (worms that affect the root system), and improves the penetration of water into the soil.
Yes, it is sometimes difficult to drive wheat from the site, but for myself I decided that according to the principle of crop rotation, I will drive wheat with mustard.
Alfalfa was on my list because I want to plant tomatoes after it. Tomatoes themselves are very "gluttonous", and alfalfa is just right to help me out in this situation. It helps in killing pathogens and dissolving hard-to-absorb phosphates.
Phacelia is a super-green manure, because after it any vegetable crop develops with a bang. Compare for yourself: phacelia, sprouted on 1 weave of your site, is equal to 300 kg of the best manure or mullein.
