How to join a countertop: how to close a countertop joint in the kitchen
Kitchen countertops are an indispensable element. They are made from various materials. But more often they use plastic-faced chipboard.
It's sad when there is no way to use the whole tabletop. Often it is cut and then spliced. This is done in the case when the table top does not go through the door or it is impossible for workers to turn around on the stairs. Therefore, it is cut into 2 pieces, and sometimes more.
Let's talk about the methods of joining, splicing the table top. There are 3 methods to make this work.
- Docking using a Euro saw,
- Joint to joint without euro saw,
- Use of a T-shaped profile.
Eurozapil
Curve processing - Eurostitch.
According to the previously created template, the parts of the table top are spliced joint into joint. This is invisible on dark countertops. A joint sealant is used.
Minuses of this method:
- the joint is visible on light countertops:
- do not recommend using the method in the washing area,
- impossible to do at home.
Without euro saw
The method does not require special. tools. But the joint is not tight and may swell over time. Without skills, it is unrealistic to merge two countertops.
Corner profile
The easiest way. But there are 2 downsides.
- The protruding part will be visible.
- It is difficult to match the color of the baseboard to the countertop.
There are more pluses. The connection is hermetically sealed using a silicone sealant. Can be self-installed even with uneven walls. This part does not rust and is easy to clean. It is inexpensive.
