Secrets of growing juicy dill without umbrellas.
Many gardeners have come across dill umbrellas, which are sometimes a real problem. The fact is that sometimes summer residents expect a bountiful harvest from dill bushes, which, unfortunately, they do not receive, since umbrellas appear in place of the fragrant leaves.
Many probably know that in order to grow dill, you do not need to have special knowledge, and this is true. But if you want to get a good harvest, then you have to follow some rules.
First of all, you need to correctly approach the selected variety. It should be borne in mind that hybrids themselves quickly begin to bloom, which easily adapt to weather conditions.
If we talk about care, then such varieties should be grown as well as ordinary varieties of dill. Such plants grow well in open sunny areas, but they require a significant amount of moisture.
If you save water, an umbrella will form on the plant. Remember, the hotter it is outside, the more water the dill needs. It is moisture that affects the appearance of flower stalks and the abundance of the crop.
It is worth noting that watering does not necessarily mean the introduction of water at the root; to achieve the goal, it is allowed to periodically use a spray bottle.
If it is not possible to provide a bed with dill with abundant regular watering, you should use the hole method for sowing.
To do this, dig holes with a diameter of about 7 cm and a depth of 11 cm. Water and fertilize. Pour a bag of seedlings into the hole and sprinkle with loosened soil. The seeds do not need additional watering.
You can also use a different sowing method. To do this, before planting seedlings, they must be properly prepared. Take cheesecloth or bags of this fabric and send the seeds into it for three days. Change the fluid at least 5 times during the day.
After the specified time has passed, transfer the seeds to a cotton cloth and cover with the same. For 4 days, remove the wrapped seedlings in a warm place.
This period will be enough for germination. Thanks to such simple actions, the plant will grow much faster in the future.
Using this method, sow the dill in bunches. Dig holes about 12 cm deep.
Spill water and fertilize the soil in advance. The ideal time for planting is mid-April, when the air temperature warms up over +4 degrees.
