Time flies by and now it's time to sow seedlings of some vegetable crops. For the result to please you, you need to choose or make the most suitable soil.

And let the quality of the soil and its composition depend on what exactly will grow in it, but there are several components that are not suitable and can even destroy the seedlings:

- clay
At first glance, it is not clear why clay is dangerous for seedlings, because it contains many useful minerals that make clay soil fertile.

The answer is very simple: clay makes the soil dense enough and does not allow air to flow to the roots of the seedlings in the amount required by young tender plants. As a result, the seedlings simply die.

- sand
Although sand can make the soil more crumbly, it has a high clay content. And as we already know, clay is undesirable for young plant shoots.

Also, the sand is very poor, because it does not contain any nutrients. Thus, this component is completely unnecessary for us when creating soil for growing seedlings.

- fresh manure
This natural fertilizer is often used in vegetable gardens because it is environmentally friendly. Products grown on land fertilized with manure are not harmful to our bodies. But when growing seedlings, it is better to refuse it.

Fresh manure in the soil begins to give off gases that generate heat. Seedling roots begin to overheat and dry out. In addition, the manure contains a high content of weed seeds. So in your boxes, instead of useful crops, only weeds will appear.

- compost
The situation with compost is similar to that with fresh manure. Compost also rotates in the soil and heats it up. The roots of immature young plants dry out and the seedlings die.

But this only applies to compost, which has not yet fully matured. If all of its components have already rotted, then the compost can be safely used for growing seedlings.

- sawdust
Sawdust is ideal for germinating seeds. They allow enough air and moisture to pass to the roots of plants. Transplanting seedlings will also not cause problems, because the sawdust is perfectly separated from each other and you cannot damage the root system of a young plant.

But the problem is that sawdust does not contain nutrients. The seedlings that are grown in them do not look very healthy. Therefore, it is best to transplant the shoots into nutritious soil as soon as possible after they emerge in order to obtain healthy and robust seedlings.
