The idea of ​​building a house from what is literally lying underfoot is not new. Someone is building a house from bags filled with earth. Someone uses tires coated with clay as a wall material. Chinese architects and builders have decided to breathe a second life into one of the old dilapidated dwellings - a cave house - a typical structure for northern China.

Traditionally, such houses are built on the hillside, in which a tunnel is made, and an area is cleared in front of the house. As a result, the house resembles a cave with an arched vault.

Taking this idea as a basis, the architects developed a project modern a hi-tech country cottage, but built from materials taken on the site.

The house has an area of ​​about 300 m², built of earth, sand and clay, rammed in a removable formwork.

The layering of the two materials gives the cottage walls a unique texture and color.

In addition, the construction estimate decreased and the transportation costs were reduced, since the material was taken from the nearby hills.

The height of the building, according to local legislation, is strictly limited, therefore, the number of storeys cannot be increased. The designers were faced with the task of building a comfortable cottage, outwardly as close as possible to the old buildings, but equipping it with ultramodern filling.

For this, the "cave" was oriented so that the side with the maximum glazing area faced south.

Sunlight, penetrating into the premises, heats the array of walls during the day, and the accumulated heat allows you to reduce heating costs.

For ease of use, the house is divided into two functional zones - a private part and a place where you can receive guests.

For the interior decoration, natural wood was used, which, in combination with earthen walls, panoramic windows and hidden lighting, gives the home a special comfort.

Playing on the contrast, the architects in part of the premises made a flat ceiling suspended from wooden beams.

Another part of the rooms, due to the vaulted ceiling, resembles the interiors from science fiction films.

We paid great attention to furniture and engineering stuffing of the house. To emphasize the unusual texture of the walls and the shape of the ceiling, tables, wardrobes, sofas are made in a minimalist style with strict straight lines.

In the middle of the cottage, between the living room and the bedroom, there is a "light window" that fills the rooms with light.

A complete ventilation system was also installed. All engineering communications and wiring are carried out.

In addition to the interior, the emphasis is on the exterior and landscape design.

For example, trees and shrubs are planted in the courtyard, and you can get into the house only by walking along the paved garden paths, maneuvering along a kind of "green" labyrinth.

The Chinese believe that in this way all the negative energy is left behind the threshold of the house, which is removed by green spaces.

According to the owner of the house, work on the cave cottage is not finished yet, but now it is cool in summer and warm in winter.
