Unusual application: growing mushrooms and onions on a feather, insulation for floors and walls, paths in the garden
At the dacha, a lot of sawdust sometimes accumulates after harvesting firewood or other work. Some people burn them in the bathhouse or simply dispose of them. A versatile and natural material can come in handy. Consider several options for the unusual use of sawdust.
Growing mushrooms, onions on a feather
Cut off the top of the bulbs and place them in a bucket of warm water. Add some salt to the water. The onions are soaked for about 8 hours. Pour sawdust with hot water, let them soak well. When the water in the sawdust cools down, you need to tamp them.
Sprinkle more dry sawdust on top if water appears. Now 2-3 cm wet sawdust is poured into the planting container. They also pour water and let it stand to swell a little. Then start spreading the bulbs close to each other. In sawdust, the bulbs do not get sick and do not rot. The feather grows up to 45 cm.
Oyster mushrooms can be grown by yourself, in sawdust. Sawdust (3 parts), straw or compound feed (1 part) are mixed. Pour boiling water over and let stand for about 7 hours. It is important to maintain a temperature of 60 degrees. Then the mixture is transferred into a tight bag in layers. Each layer is sprinkled with mycelium. Make several holes in the bag. Mushrooms grow in 35-45 days.
Sawdust for floor insulation
Cheap, natural material is a reliable heat insulator. If you increase the thickness of the sawdust layer, then they will be better than mineral wool and foam. The floor is covered with polyethylene or roofing felt. Sawdust is mixed with lime (proportions 10: 1) or boric acid solution (then dry the sawdust). Sawdust is poured onto the film, then a layer of vapor barrier and a finishing coating.
Sawdust and cement. Sawdust is needed without mold and other bacteria. The first layer of screed (7 cm.): For 1 bucket of cement (M400 or M500), 6 buckets of sawdust and 2 buckets of sand. You can add 3 kg to the solution. slaked lime. The second layer of the screed - the same proportions of cement and sand, only less sawdust - 3 buckets.
Insulation of the walls of the house with sawdust, gypsum and lime
They make a frame - the guide boards will play the role of beacons of the walls of the house. We fasten one or two boards horizontally to the lighthouses. After the sawdust dries, they will need to be unscrewed and attached higher along the wall. It turns out a kind of pocket. We will fill it with insulation.
Proportions: 10 liters of sawdust, 1 liter of gypsum, water and lime. Knead the mixture and pour it into the pocket between the boards and the wall of the house. Use a stick to compact the solution well. When the plaster grabs, unscrew the boards and nail them higher up the wall. Then fill it with the solution again. And so on all the walls. In the end, you can plaster or sheathe with another material.
Paths - sawdust
Sawdust (7 cm) can be poured between the beds so that there are no weeds. Rain does not wash them away (except on a steep slope). When the sawdust decays, new ones are added. Always clean and less weeding work.
