4 mistakes when wiring a water supply system made of polypropylene
When creating a water supply system from polypropylene pipes, many inexperienced craftsmen make a number of mistakes that cause problems with water flow. Let's get acquainted with them in more detail.
Mistake 1. Weak water pressure, or its absence
If the distribution of the water supply system is still from the Soviet era, then a weak water pressure may occur due to the fact that the water supply pipes are clogged and need to be replaced. When a new water supply system created from polypropylene pipes does not conduct water well, the reason lies in poor-quality installation.
The thing is that when welding pipes, the master simply overheats the joints and the edge of the polypropylene pipe, when welding with couplings, elbows, tees, etc. brewed either partially (this contributes to a low pressure), or completely (then water access in general limited).
How to fix
When installing polypropylene pipes, do not overheat the pipe and fittings. It is also very undesirable to press the pipe into the nozzle of the welding machine when heating up. A little use of force is justified only at the initial stage of warming up.
Error 2. Welded polypropylene plumbing leaks
The reason for this is that residual water got into the pipeline during welding. This happens quite often, when it is necessary to repair not the entire water supply or heating system, but only part of it. The foreman shuts off the water and removes the remaining water from the pipes, then starts welding. If the remaining water is not completely removed, then the water abruptly cools the pipe heated on the welding machine. In this case, the quality of the welded joint decreases, which leads to a water pipe leak.
How to fix
Before the welding process, you should very carefully check whether the water is completely drained from the water supply. Remove the remaining water from the pipe with a napkin, if possible, it is necessary to bend the pipe down to remove the remaining water. When welding, the pipe should, on the contrary, be raised up.
Error 3. Creating monolithic connections
When creating an additional branch of a heating or water supply system, which consists of metal pipes, or in situations when it is necessary to connect polypropylene pipes to the metal riser of the pipeline, the plumber creates a monolithic compound. In this case, a big mistake is made. It consists in the fact that if the connection flows, then it will be very difficult to eliminate the leak.
How to fix
Difficulties can be avoided by using detachable joints, couplings with union nuts, American women, etc. Monolithic threaded connections polypropylene pipes are used in the case when detachable connections cannot be used, a vivid example of this is the installation of a water counter.
Mistake 4. Insufficient heating of the connection
During such work, the polypropylene pipe is not completely put on the nozzle of the welding machine. Accordingly, a small section of the pipe is melted, which is insufficient for a good connection.
Water supply and heating system, created from polypropylene pipes, if carried out correctly, can serve 25-50 years old.
