How to save on furniture: ready-made solutions, interesting ideas

A significant part of the budget for the arrangement of an apartment or house falls on furniture. Ready-made headsets in the middle price segment do not shine with design and quality, and luxury ones are far from affordable for everyone. I am not a professional furniture maker and I do not want to show beauty and design. They are common here. And I want to show the approach, the method. Of course, it will not fit “for the client”. This is if only for yourself.
So. My idea. The project is mine. The design is mine.

Since the function of viewing 3D models is not provided here, we post the volumetric visualization. This is a kitchen and a study, designed and assembled in the future according to the same principle.

Implementation

The kitchen area is lined with tiles and mosaics - ceramics feels good in a specific mode, looks presentable and washes well (most importantly, more than once a year, then you have to pant). Sergei decorated the view surfaces with mosaics for entertainment, and those that will close the modules with cheaper tiles, reasonable economy has not been canceled.

As a basis for the lower modules, Sergey chose a metal profile frame. The legs are also homemade, metal, with the ability to adjust in height for easy adjustment in place.

The assembly begins with the installation of frames, then a tabletop is fixed to the support bar fixed in the wall (on the anchor and foam) (a budget ready-made blank, cut to size).

According to the project, the sawing of laminated chipboard panels was ordered from a company, by the way, small furniture firms usually saw their blanks. The choice of material is due to the price-quality ratio. Sergei also assembled all the furniture in the apartment himself from chipboard and is quite satisfied with all the characteristics. Such an amount of the array would have cost a cosmic sum, not to mention the fine-tuning. The composite is much cheaper and completely ready.

The panels are assembled in two sections, one on each side, the bottom to the base is fixed with blind rivets. Vertical racks, fittings for boxes are attached to the bottom on corners or ties. When assembled, the frame (sections) is pushed under the tabletops and, by means of the adjusting nuts on the legs, it rises until it is fully pressed against the tabletop. The tabletop and the frame are fixed to each other at the corners, as well as the sections to the wall. It turns out a kind of monolith without backlash in one direction or another, as in separate, add-on kitchen modules.

To prevent dust from accumulating under the headset, the groove around the perimeter is also closed. Hinged modules are assembled from laminated chipboard sheets, sawn in shape and size. Facades made of MDF are purchased, and transparent, homemade (frame made of aluminum profile, covered with matte plastic).

What's the point? First, streaming products and "for yourself" are strikingly different in convenience and quality. And secondly - even taking into account consumables and professional sawing, the total costs are an order of magnitude lower.

Simple, but budget. A bit dreary but worth it. Because, if you order this, then it is about 150-200 thousand, and it turned out about 20 thousand.

Another interesting point – and the kitchen and all other furniture are fixed to the walls. And instead of the back wall, not a substrate, but a wall pasted over with a film under a wood texture.

Homemade table

The table, as an object subject to greater loads than the frames, Sergei made of wood - first he glued the furniture board, then brought it to the state of the table top and equipped it with legs.

Finishing: lockers, built-in ironing board

Over time, wall cabinets were added to the kitchen above the corner, of course, also homemade. Between the "first and second" break for more than a year, during this time the craftsman learned to make facades, not only from MDF, but also combined ones.

We also got around to the pull-out ironing board. – it fit perfectly into the concept instead of one of the boxes.
