What do I do with a peeler other than peeling vegetables

It will be a month since I started using the peeler. I didn't like them before, I cleaned everything in the old fashioned way with a knife. You know, you may not believe it, but it is still more convenient for me to peel vegetables with a knife. I do not understand who invented the vegetable peeler for these purposes, but it came in handy and took root among many housewives for completely different purposes. And I will note that this item has become even an irreplaceable tool in the kitchen.

I'll tell you today about 8 ways to use the peeler in the kitchen.

At some point, I even started looking at various other models, my cheap ones from ordinary stores quickly became dull. And I can share a recommendation. Friends from Ikea brought me just such a model with a rubberized handle, heavy and convenient to work with. By the way, a friend said that the blades do not dull for a long time.

I'll move on to describe what I do with the peeler.

Shinny cabbage. This is probably the most common use. In the cabbage soup I put in thin strips and cut easily. I also cook stewed cabbage. And a salad made from such strips looks more appetizing.

Cheese can cut thinly and beautifully at least for a sandwich, at least a layer for pizza, at least in order to make figures from these cheese pieces for the festive table. And by the way, if a piece of cheese is already quite small, and in the morning all family members need to make a sandwich, then a vegetable peeler is just a lifesaver. A small piece can be cut into many thin layers and no one of their loved ones will be left offended.

On the table any sausages can be cut very thinly, it turns out like machine cutting. Zucchini, eggplant for some dishes will also cook faster if you cut them thinly with a vegetable peeler.

Onions for salads or fish can be cut into many equally thin half rings or even rings.

Homemade chips from potatoes and carrots - I also cut with a vegetable peeler. Don't say it's harmful. Sometimes I really want to.

Any fruit can be easily cut into very thin layers. For apple pie, you can make roses from such slices.

Peeler even for dessert healthier than peeling vegetables. Chocolate, for example, can be beautifully cut into ice cream or cake with it. The grater, it would seem, is also good, but it is more difficult to wash the grater after chocolate, but it is also more convenient to eat coarser grated, that is, chopped pieces - nothing will crumble.

Lemon zest can be peeled easily with a vegetable peeler. This is its direct purpose, which is better than cleaning with a knife. Dried zest, ground in a coffee grinder or rubbed in a mortar, can be added to desserts, salads and other dishes you want.
