Not for patching! All my life I was mistaken, why should a piece of fabric with a button be attached to clothes
You didn't notice in recent years, that scraps of fabric with a button have ceased to be attached to many types of clothing, how was it obligatory in Soviet times? I noticed. I was even given a jacket (not from the market, but from a brand boutique) only buttons, without a shred.
And even before, I always threw them away, if without buttons. I thought that I would not put patches, if it breaks, I will throw out my clothes. How wrong I thought.
I have a friend, an entrepreneur, who produces just clothes for women. Once I looked to her at work in the shop and drew attention to the fact that she told the seamstresses that it was no longer necessary to attach trial shreds to the second line clothes. I asked at first what these probes were. Nastya answered:
- Well, when you buy clothes, especially outerwear, a piece of fabric with or without a button is attached to the label. This is the probe. And my second line is sewn from Chinese fabric, there are no need for these pieces at all, because a cheap collection for one season for poorer girls. It makes no sense to include the extra labor costs for cutting and attaching these patches into the price. And the second line is made of high quality fabrics and the finishing is not simple either. There, the clothes are already expensive and therefore we must attach the samples together with the composer.
- Well, I understand compilers, these are sewn labels most often, where the composition of the fabric and the methods of washing, ironing, bleaching, and so on are indicated. And what are these scraps of probes for? Aren't they meant to be patched in case your clothes are torn?
Then Nastya laughed at me ...
- What are you crazy? Do you think the buyers of expensive clothes will put on patches? Yes, they will throw it out if a puff appears! And trial scraps of fabric are needed so that before dry cleaning, bleaching, ironing or even washing clothes, try to do all this with this patch. If the reaction is good and the tissue does not deteriorate, then you can. And after all, there are now a sea of different brands of various bleach products, who knows what these powders and liquids are made of and how they act on fabric? Therefore, we attach to try. If the fabric deteriorates, then the treatment with this product is not suitable for this fabric.
- Wow! Live forever... And all my life I was mistaken, believing that these pieces are for patches...
