Many have heard about Udmurtia, but not everyone knows where to look for this small republic on the map of Russia. The region is located between the Perm Territory, the Kirov Region and Tatarstan. The composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky was born in Udmurtia, and the gunsmith Timofey Kalashnikov worked. By the way, the winners of Eurovision 2012 Buranovskie grandmothers also live in Udmurtia.

Udmurts are hospitable people. Once you are here, go to the kitchen first. Marvel at some traditions. For example, the Udmurts do not pass meat through a meat grinder, but chop it in a wooden box with a metal "scythe". So, say the locals, the meat is juicy. We'll check it a bit later.

While the meat is being cooked in the kitchen, I will tell you about another surprise of mine. It turns out that the Kama River begins in the north of Udmurtia. A wide, deep river flows from a small spring in the village of Kuliga. It takes so long to get here that in fact you understand why the village has such a name - they live near the devil on the kulichi. But only here you can stand simultaneously on two banks of the Kama. Try to do it somewhere else, it won't work.

A few more interesting facts related to Udmurtia:

· The word "boobs" in translation from Udmurt means "ate". Put the stress in the word on the last "and";

· Gas is installed in local villages, but wood-burning stoves are not removed. Now they are not used to heat houses, but they are heated on holidays - they cook potato cheesecakes and baked goods. These are dough baskets with meat, cabbage or mushroom filling;

· A couple of years ago in Udmurtia, its own award "Honorary Udmurt" was popular. In 2013, the French actor Gerard Depardieu became an honorary Udmurt.

Already in the Udmurt cuisine, meat is ready, but for some reason they call me not to have dinner, but to carry sacks. I come and wonder. The bags are envelopes made of pancakes with meat filling.

The Udmurts "drag" them by the cheeks. Still, because the pancakes are first baked and then fried in ghee together with the filling. Inside the "bags" - juicy meat. In a word, delicious. I’m ready to carry such bags every day!
