Friends, I decided to devote today's series of articles to varieties that are not susceptible to attack by flies. Even onions, even carrots. Last summer, under the article about the fight against the onion fly, many wrote that they were tired of fighting and decided to give up growing onions altogether. Allegedly, no measures can help.

In fact, the main reason why it has become too much onion flies to fly in the area is the onion varieties that are very attractive to these insects. After all, most buy sevok sweeter, more accurate... And they do not have those essential oils that scare away these flying parasites.

I have made for you a selection of varieties that I grow myself and on which I have never seen onion flies or worms. And plus to all these varieties are not subject to decay. You can say that maybe there was no circle in the circle... BUT no, there was one bed with the Kaba variety, half of the garden had to be disposed of from it. As a result half the harvest to waste.

My today's varieties, I will immediately warn you, do not give a very large yield (a maximum of up to 60 grams of a bulb), significantly less than the larger varieties that insects prefer. But judge for yourself what you plant large, but throw out half, and what you get less, but save the entire crop. Also, these varieties of mine have excellent keeping quality! Up to 8-10 months can be stored absolutely without weight loss. So it's worth taking a closer look.

"Strigunovsky local" is an old proven Russian cultivar with strong immunity to fungal diseases. And insect pests such as onion flies, nematodes, aphids, moths, and spider mites do not like this variety at all. In general, a whole bunch of benefits.

When planting this variety of onions, you will definitely not only remove the crop, but also keep it intact for a whole year, since its husk is quite thick from several layers. The taste - the eyes will be when cleaning and cutting definitely in a wet place, very burning. Suitable for cultivation both in the South and in the North. Versatile.

Also, the domestic variety of onion "Penza" differs from the previous one in that it is slightly less protected from rotting. But insect pests do not attack him. And the characteristics of all the rest are very similar to the previous variety.

Russian and no less good grade "Pogarskiy local improved". You can get a harvest, like from a two-year crop from seedlings. The only drawback is that it is slightly more susceptible to fungal diseases than the first two varieties.

"Alpha" will be interesting to many because, apart from the characteristics similar to the first two varieties, the yield is better. The bulb can reach up to 100 grams, which is almost twice as much as in all the previous ones.

For storage and for use in any form I cannot but mention the Voronezh 86 variety. From my personal interviews with my relatives - while insect pests were not observed on this variety, it did not rot in the beds in a rainy summer, unlike some other varieties, and was well kept. But my relatives planted it for only one year, so there is no exact statistics.

I also chose according to the characteristics from the catalog, I am sure that it is also suitable for my list - the variety "Zolotisty Semko F1", is suitable as a two-year-old from the set. The yield is average, less than that of Alpha and but more than that of the rest. The bulb can reach up to 80 grams, which you will agree, is quite a lot for the names from the list of disease-resistant, especially not susceptible to onion fly attack.
