Gable roof with non-expansion (sliding) rafter system

All is vanity... Said the Ecclesiastes once. But I really like the hustle and bustle on my site, building a house brings pleasure and joy! Especially when the work is going well, and the house takes on more and more obvious features. Let me remind you that my house is one-story - 6.2x7 m, made of expanded clay block, a gable roof attic type (open ceiling), all in the best traditions of minimalism, coupled with competent optimization of the construct and the use of all resources, including labor. According to the plan, it will not exceed 300 kilo rubles - the construction of the whole house, and I can confidently say that everything is working out.

Ridge run and Mauerlat

I have a ridge run 7 meters long, so I spliced ​​it out of 3 boards 5x15 cm at random, all over carpentry rules, tightening as necessary with reinforced pins, as well as punching nails in a checkerboard pattern and etc. I will not list everything here. I polished it with a grinder with a grinding disc. In general, it turned out great and durable. Experimentally leaned it on blocks and jumped on it, checking the deflection. The ridge girder approximately in the center rests on a post spliced ​​from the same 2 boards. A powerful concrete curbstone was poured under the pillar.

On top of the wall I made an armored belt made of reinforced concrete 5 cm thick. Just in case. According to my calculations, it would not be possible to do it at all, since my roof is not spread. Concreted studs. Mauerlat collected from 2 boards 5x20 cm. section. I did it according to the rules (I don't remember what the connection is called), pulled it off with a hairpin, pierced with 2 powerful nails 20 cm. long.

Rafter system

The width of the house is 6.2 m, divided in half by a ridge run, the rafters of 5x20 cm rest on it. with a gash, and overlap, tightened with reinforced pins, and also pierce with 1 good nail, just in case. The excess is cut off. I chose the length of the rafters so that the overhang was 40 cm.

Before installing the rafters, I finished laying the pediment with additional elements - I sawed the expanded clay block in size with a grinder. To do this, I baited the rafters closer to the wall, applied a template from a board to the size of the block (this is easier than lifting the block each time), drew a line along it, focusing on the upper edge of the rafter. Then he applied the template to the block, marked it with a wax marker, sawed it off, put it down - everything is clear.

Why did the roof change

As God sent me one comrade, he knocked right on the door, introduced himself as a manager of some company and offered such prices, from which my eyes went up, but for the better. I didn't even think about using corrugated board, according to my plan, I had bituminous ondulin (yes, all because of the price). Apparently the company opened recently and gained clients for itself by dumping prices well. Of course, I had doubts, they say, but whether they will throw, or send a marriage. Therefore, before ordering, I personally went to the office, and did not order by phone in the business card that the manager left. The building of that company turned out to be a non-working day due to the fact that the light was turned off for them, and they told me where their warehouse was, so I went there (as if God helps). I was personally convinced of how they work, talked to a hard worker who told me what and how, what quality materials, and so on. I touched it, felt it, calmed down, ordered it, a week later brought it on a manipulator - everything is fine. Price - 270 rubles / m², 0.45 mm thickness, C20 profiled sheet.

I chose the color of the roof dark green (RAL 6005), although there are brown around the roof, a neighbor was still passing by and asked “Do you want to stand out?”. But how can I say, green is my favorite, besides, an ecologist by profession.

Roof installation

And the other day I finished the installation of corrugated board and skate, improving my skills as a spider-man). I was pleased with the results of the work - of the jambs on the roof, only that once fell between the rafters and broke the diff. membrane. But he patched the hole with a thread, nylon, so as not to rot. And so everything is within the normal range, everything is smooth. By the way, I'm building a house for the first time, completely alone, with rare exceptions - in this case I called a friend to put the ridge run into place, because I didn't want to spend money on a winch.

• Insulation with one layer of 5 cm, and 1 layer of 15 cm Knauf for the roof - 11,000 rubles.

In total, about 63,000 rubles, plus you can add 3% - the admission that gasoline was spent on trips to the hypermarket may have forgotten to write something out of small things.
