When you find yourself in Havana - the capital of the Island of Liberty, your eyes simply do not know what is the first thing to look at, it is so colorful there. Despite the fact that the main part of Havana is built up with buildings of the 17th and 19th centuries, new houses are practically not built there.

Next to luxurious, well-kept buildings there are houses in need of restoration, but at the same time, they still amaze with their architecture. This fact is one of the first that you pay attention to when you are there for the first time. It is interesting that entire areas with such buildings are cultural and historical monuments included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. And the most amazing thing is that the simplest Cubans live in such houses.

Cubans live in houses of this importance, with very low salaries. Very often from the windows of such houses you can see how people hang out to dry their clothes, and often the flag of their country. And this is in houses with such architecture. It's incredible.

It was very unusual for me to see such a combination: a luxurious house, and next to it, a building in need of restoration. And when you find out that ordinary Cubans live in such houses, it is even shocking. At the same time, the restored building from the outside may not correspond at all to what is inside. For the most part, everything is very deplorable inside, and even life-threatening.

There are houses in Cuba that are amazing. A very unusual house, with balconies made in the form of coffins. There is a version that the son of the architect who built this house died. Out of despair and in memory of his son, the architect made balconies in the form of inverted coffins.

The house of Bacardi is famous for the symbol of the brand - the bat - on the spire of the building.

By the way, it was the very first skyscraper in Havana in 1930. Nearby is such a residential building, you see, a beautiful building, although restoration would not have hindered it.

Nevertheless, most of the historic buildings have not been restored, and some are in a very poor condition.

But there is definitely something to see, and definitely worth it. Could you imagine that ordinary Cubans live in houses of the 17th-19th centuries, in historical monuments ?!
