Flying houses in Japan - earthquake rescue
Japan is located in a seismically active zone, therefore it often suffers from earthquakes, which cause almost irreparable losses, as, for example, at the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant. Perhaps it was after such a major accident that Japanese engineers and technologists thought about how to preserve structures during earthquakes.
And the solution was indeed found! Literally a year later, Air Danshin was the first to test in practice a new technology for maneuvering a building in the air. "Floating" houses have a special design, they are equipped with sensors that register tremors and activate the system for raising the building above the ground. Powerful compressors force air into a cushion between the building and the foundation. And it happens in just 5-7 seconds!
The building rises only 3-4 cm, but this is already quite enough to preserve its integrity. The air cushion completely compensates for tremors, the building seems to float in the air and only slightly sways in different directions with an amplitude of more than 5.5 points. When the threat passes, the sensors remove the danger mode and the building smoothly lowers to the foundation.
At the moment, the technology of "flying" houses has already been introduced in 9,000 buildings, and almost all structures under construction use this protection. From the outside it seems that it is very costly and expensive, but in fact - the technology is the most effective and affordable, in comparison with other developments.
Then another, no less important, question arises - what about tall and bulky buildings? But here the engineers thought of everything! If a house cannot fly, it will dance! With the help of a special frame made of reinforcement, the structure becomes mobile and smoothly reacts to earthquakes, as if dancing.
I wonder if modern technologies will reach the point where houses themselves move from one territory to another? In this case, when moving, there would be no need to build a new house. 😊
