Peking Cabbage does not yield a crop and all goes into Color? A few simple tips to help you enjoy the Vegetable this year
Peking cabbage is my garden favorite, occupying more than one garden, with so many delicious things you can cook! But last year I got scared in earnest - the vegetable decided to bloom violently.
Fortunately, among the neighbors, I found an experienced farmer, also a botanist, and he shared with me some simple rules for solving this problem.
The main reason for leaving in color is the desire of the plant to complete the growing cycle, multiply against the background of unfavorable conditions.
Often these are nighttime chills. Therefore, it is better to plant hybrid varieties that are frost-resistant. For example - Dutch Manoko and Bilko.
This vegetable also reacts painfully to a damaged root system. Therefore, it is reasonable to prefer sowing in open ground to growing through seedlings.
Or you should at least plant seeds in peat cups - you can do with them without picking. And of course, when processing beds with Peking cabbage, you must not penetrate into the soil more than 2-3 centimeters.
To prevent the transition of Peking cabbage to the flowering stage, it is advisable to adhere to other agricultural rules:
· Timely watering - the soil should always be wet to the touch to a depth of a couple of centimeters;
· Application of fertilizers - insufficient soil fertility can prevent Peking cabbage from tying heads of cabbage, but it will always gather strength for flowering.
From folk remedies, herbal infusion (1 kg of plants per 9 liters of water) and mullein solution (1 kg per 10 liters of water) are good;
· Competent crop rotation - cabbage cannot be planted twice in the same place, and it always grows poorly after radish, mustard and radish.
In addition, unlike most other crops, this cabbage enjoys shorter daylight hours. Therefore, it should be planted near what shade can give after lunch - a building wall, a fence, shrubs.
If you had to land in an open area, you just need to throw covering breathable material for the rest of the day.
Agrofibre will also help with temperature extremes that can provoke flowering - it is better for cabbage to wait out its fall below + 22 ° C under it.
And finally, I will open one more rule - I remove Peking cabbage from the beds immediately after the formation of the heads, because it does not have a dormant period - I am ready to bloom right away!
