Tired of waiting for the Geranium to bloom at home? Feed her properly with Iodine and enjoy Blooming

The fashion for indoor plants changes every year, and only geranium has not lost ground on the windowsill for centuries.

It is unpretentious, with a long flowering period and leaves with a rich color with a ring-shaped pattern.

If you pinch the bush regularly, it throws out a lot of peduncles at once and the pot stands, covered with inflorescences, like a lush bright hat.

Plant nutritional requirements

Is it surprising that the plant needs increased feeding? Such an active growth and flowering requires a large supply of trace elements.

Most owners understand this and provide their beauty with a big three important additives from nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus, but sometimes the pet still stops blooming. What's going on with her?

Microelement composition of the soil

It's all about the trace elements that the plant needs in addition.

Active growth quickly depletes the stock of rare elements in the soil, as a result, the flower becomes vulnerable and weak, and the formation of buds stops.

A plant with pale leaves begins to dry out and experiences a real leaf fall.

In the case of geraniums, their dormant period is almost not pronounced; they can bloom even in the middle of winter.

They need additional feeding every two weeks during the sunny period of the year; in winter it is enough to feed them once a month.

Feeding with iodine

The iodine solution affects the formation of geranium buds, stimulates flowering and forces new flower stalks to be set. In addition, in the presence of iodine, nitrogen fertilizers are better absorbed, the plant becomes more resilient and grows green mass.

Another side, but not insignificant effect is the ability to get rid of various rot, iodine is considered a good antiseptic.

Plants like geraniums, which are actively growing and there is no way to change the pot for a larger one several times a year, need iodine feeding.

Feeding methods

1. Ready-made preparations, for example, Bioiodis, are diluted according to the instructions and introduced into the soil. It is impossible to damage the plant if proportions are observed.

2. In the case of self-preparation of the solution, add it only to the moistened soil, when after the first watering at least an hour has passed.. This will protect the roots from burns. To prepare the solution, take clean soft water, such as rain or melt.

One drop of ordinary pharmaceutical iodine is enough per liter. If a specimen of geranium is caught in a neglected state, you can add a second or even a third drop per liter, but no more.

Important! Iodine top dressing should not fall on geranium leaves, otherwise they will dry out.

A plant overfed with iodine can bloom violently, but the buds and leaves will turn yellow.
