It is important to know how to feed. There is no point in spreading fertilizers or watering directly at the trunk. The fact is that cherries have roots that can absorb nutrients from the environment, located a little further from the trunk.

What I do every 5 years is to add 300 g of lime per square meter to normalize the acidity of the soil. This helps to prevent shedding of flowers and loss of crops.

Many people dig up the area around the trees. I don't do that. I grew up in a village and do not remember from my childhood that it would be customary for us to dig around the trunks around someone. We applied fertilizer in two ways - watering and spreading a layer of fertilizer around the trunk. I'll tell you about these options, from my personal experience.

Before watering, we spread manure around, or even green manure, vegetable compost. What you have can be decomposed. But beforehand, under this layer, we always poured ash on the eye. Then, after both layers were laid out, we watered with a solution of mullein, bird droppings. I think all summer residents know the recipes for these solutions.

But not all summer residents, probably, have the opportunity to fertilize with manure and mullein. Then I propose another option for feeding, so as not to suffer from crop failure. It seems to me that everyone can get ash. If the fires themselves were not burned, then ash is sold in specialized stores.

But if you do without problems at all, then in early spring it is now better to buy mineral fertilizers phosphorus with potassium (for young trees - 2 tbsp. superphosphate and 1 tbsp. potassium chloride per 1 square meter, for fruiting - 3 tbsp. superphosphate and 1.5 tbsp. chloride potassium). Fertilizer should be sealed to a depth of 7-10 cm within the radius of the trunk circle. To do this, of course, you can dig up the upper soil slightly, remove the top layer of the earth, pour minerals and lay over heat and soil, you can peat. Remember to water at the end.
