Chubushnik. Even a Lazy Gardener can grow, and I will help with this
Chubushnik attracts gardeners with a lush crown, bright flowering and unpretentious care. There are many varieties of this plant.
They differ in crown height, presence or absence of smell, shape, color and size of the flower, flowering period. Breeder varieties are excellent material for creating hedges.
Despite the fact that chubushnik is sometimes called garden jasmine, these are two different types of plants, similar to each other in the shape and color of the petals.
Chubushnik has a longer flowering period, some varieties of shrub exude the smell of strawberries or pineapple.
How to plant a bush correctly
1. Fossa preparation. The volume should correspond to the size of the root system. As a rule, I have enough size 60 cm in depth and in diameter. But it is best to focus on the planting material.
2. If the plant becomes a hedge in the future, then the size of the crown should be taken into account when planting. I place young bushes at a distance of 70 cm from each other.
3. At the bottom of the hole, I pour a mixture of sand, humus and leafy earth in a ratio of 1: 2: 3.
4. Place the seedling in the hole so as not to bury the root collar very deeply into the soil.
5. The roots should be carefully spread and covered with soil mixture.
6. I water the planted bushes, and carefully look after at first, so that the mock-orange begins and grows.
Features of plant care
Watering. After planting under the bush, I pour out at least 20 liters of water. In dry summer weather, I give 30 liters per plant. I water in the evening.
Do not allow groundwater to wash away the root, otherwise the plant will die. Also, the chubushnik does not like waterlogging, and with a lack of moisture, the flowering period is reduced.
Top dressing. Once a year, each bush is fertilized with slurry. I also recommend adding minerals. I mix 15 g of urea, 15 g of potassium sulfate and 30 g of superphosphate.
This mixture is dissolved in 10 liters of water. This amount of fertilizer is enough to feed two bushes. Also, mineral fertilizing is applied at the end of the growing season.
Over fertilization is just as dangerous as poor soil. With an excess of nitrogen, the bush stops growing.
Pruning and shaping the crown. Such care consists in removing old or shriveled branches. Also, after the plant has bloomed for the first time, it is worth cutting off all weak shoots.
Remove all branches that do not grow properly. The next pruning is done after the bush has faded.
Shelter for the winter. Chubushnik is a winter-hardy plant, but some varieties need shelter. For this I use spruce branches, special fabric, leaves. Also, if possible, I try to cover the bush with snow.
Insect protection. For this purpose, you can use chemical preparations, or an infusion of potato tops.
The soil under the bushes is loosened, mulched and weeds removed.
