The rose garden is the main place in the garden, the pride of every hostess. These graceful, regal flowers delight with their beauty and fragrance all summer, until the frost.

In order for the overwintered bushes to bloom violently, I carry out a number of simple manipulations in the spring.

Uncooling

Raking up the autumn hilling is the second stage after the removal of the main shelters.

Gently remove the mulch by scrubbing outward from the base of the bush by hand. Try not to break the rudimentary buds with sprouts in the root zone of the bush.

Pruning

I take the first pruning very seriously, because the quality of flowering roses depends on it.

1. First, I mercilessly remove all damaged, frozen, black areas of the branches.

2. Then I get rid of the fattening shoots and cut out the branches directed into the bush.

3. Then I cut off healthy stems with strong buds, thereby ensuring future flowering. I shorten the central branch to the strongest bud, departing 2 centimeters from it. The other branches are slightly lower so that a beautiful crown is formed.

In each region, spring pruning of roses occurs depending on the climate. Shorter shrub formation is carried out in the southern regions than in the northern regions.

Top dressing

As soon as the soil under the plants thaws and warms up, I rush to fertilize the roses so that they receive additional nutrition.

Timely introduction of nutrients guarantees gorgeous flowering, bud size.

Under each bush I pour out the diluted mullein, chicken droppings (1:10). You can put dry ammonium nitrate under the bush (20-35 grams per 1 sq. M). Be sure to water the ground with warm water before that.

Mulching

When I feed, I immediately cover the surface of the soil around the bush with sawdust. You can take hay, peat, crushed bark — whoever has what. It retains moisture well in the soil, does not wash out useful nutrients with rains. The main thing now is not to overdo it with abundant watering, so that the fungus does not develop.

Attention! The mulching material must not come into contact with the base of the trunk. This leads to decay of the root part of the roses.

When you have done all these activities, then you yourself will be surprised at how magnificently your roses will bloom. And do not spare your time, every minute devoted to flowers will be rewarded.

I proudly bring guests and neighbors through my rose garden, together with them I admire the beauty and scent of roses.
