Do the Geranium leaves curl and turn red? A proven way to help the plant without any problems

I love my unpretentious multi-colored beauties because in winter they delight the eye with their flowering on the windowsill, and in summer on the flower bed of the front garden.

Pelargonium does not require special care, it takes root without problems. However, like all plants, it is also susceptible to disease.

Basic care mistakes

Faced with the most common ailment - curling and reddening of the leaves, I analyzed the possible causes and identified several of them:

1. When buying plants, you should definitely pay attention to the recommendations:

• use of soil;

• frequency of watering;

• feeding rules;

• temperature regime.

2. With excessive watering of the plant, a brown tint appears on the leaves, which indicates that the root system is rotten.

3. The lack of nutrients is indicated by the appearance of red spots and crimson veins on geranium leaves. And the reason may be:

• Lack of nitrogen, which is necessary for the vegetative growth of pelargonium. With its lack: growth slows down, the tips of the leaves dry and curl, the pigmentation is burgundy.

• Lack of phosphorus, causes a slowdown in plant growth and formation of the root system, the appearance of red spots on the inside of the leaf, and the absence of peduncles.

• Lack of zinc leads to a change in leaf shape, stunted growth and chlorosis of veins.

Assisting in plant recovery

At the first sign of any deviations, I immediately isolate the plant from my mini-greenhouse, I carefully study the signs and immediately take time-tested restorative methods.

To do this, you should:

1. I estimate the moisture content of the soil. If the plant has been watered 4-5 days ago, and the soil is wet, then I have flooded it.

2. I examine the stems from all sides for signs of infection. If symptoms are found, I immediately cut off the top of the stem, if the cut is green, the plant is healthy, and if it is brown, the plant will die.

After identifying the cause, I immediately transplant pelargonium. I buy land for flowering plants, cultivate it:

• I dilute a tablet of activated carbon in a glass of water;

• I put the soil into the pot and moisten it well with the mixture;

• I cover the pots for three days with a dark film.

If the cut showed that the plant is subject to resuscitation, then I fill the root system with activated carbon powder, and soot into the treated soil, observing the rules:

1. I cut off the spoiled roots with a blade.

2. I remove the inflorescence.

3. I put the pots in a dark, cool place and do not water for two days.

4. A day later, with the help of a puller, I process the plant with "Zirconom".

5. A week later I put it on the windowsill, shade it slightly from the sun's rays.

6. After 10-12 days I apply fertilizer that stimulates the growth of Kemir, after three months I repeat the procedure.

To prevent reddening and curling of leaves, I want to advise all growers:

• Up to 3 years old transplant seedlings annually, and then it will be enough once a year.

• Choose a planter according to the size of the root system.

• In winter, do not fertilize the plant, water it once every 2 weeks.

• During flowering, add phosphorus and potassium once every 20 days.

• Quarterly pinch side shoots.

In order to avoid diseases in a flower, it must be examined regularly.
