What is the risk of growing prohibited plants in a flower bed, which crops to replace dangerous varieties

Every gardener believes that in his garden he is the owner. And he has the right to grow whatever he wants. However, as practice shows, there are a number of plants and mushrooms that are strictly prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation.

The thing is that they contain certain psychotropic substances. This includes not only the well-known hemp, but also quite beautiful and exotic plants. So that none of you unknowingly acquired and began to grow these plants on your site, we will talk about each of them. At the time of the last revision of the decree of the governments of the Russian Federation on banned plants containing narcotic substances, the list is as follows.

Blue lotus (Nymphea caerulea plant)

A beautiful blue water lily, which just wants to decorate your pond. This plant is native to Northeast and East Africa, as well as southern Asia. They are distinguished by bright blue petals. However, growing them in Russia is strictly prohibited. The reason is the presence of a psychotropic substance in the plant. If you have a pond on your site, you can always plant permitted types of water lilies in it. For example, Komarov's lotus, walnut lotus, Nile water lily.

Soporific poppy (plant species Papaver somniferum L)

Everyone thought of decorating their lawn with bright red poppies. But, if you do not understand the varieties of poppies, it is better not to do this. Of course, the easiest way to tell a banned poppy from a decorative one is to look at the size of the seed box. They are large in prohibited ones, and very small in wild poppies and ornamental varieties. In any case, you will not see this when planting seeds. If you really want to decorate the area with poppy flowers, you can purchase decorative poppy varieties in specialized stores. But try to treat this issue carefully. Decree from February 6 this year, some poppy varieties were still allowed - those. in the dry mass of which the proportion of morphine, codeine and other drugs does not exceed 0.6%. For example, Garden Glory, Oriental Poppy, Marcus Perry, etc.

Well, I finally found a "question-answer" in the "Flower" magazine:
"I love poppy very much. I would like to grow it on the site, but they say that you can even go to jail for this. Is this so? "Answers Alesya Baranova - legal adviser:
"The family of poppies (Papaveraceae) includes about 45 genera, one of which is called Poppy (Papaver). Well-known poppies belong to him: alpine, oriental, samoseyka poppy, holosteel, Icelandic, oily, Turkish, etc. Illegal cultivation on land plots of plants containing narcotic substances, including all types (!) Of poppy of the genus PAPAVER, entails criminal liability. If the number of cultivated poppy plants is less than 10 (i.e. from one plant), criminal liability is provided in the form of a fine in the amount of up to three hundred thousand rubles or - imprisonment for up to two years. If cultivation was carried out on a large scale (relative to poppy - from 10 units, regardless of the phase of plant development), and / or by a group of persons in a preliminary conspiracy or by an organized group, the punishment is from three to eight years in prison freedom.
Administrative liability is also envisaged. To avoid it, land users and landowners are obliged to destroy wild-growing poppy plants on their plots. The genera Eschschol (escholzia), Macleaya (makleya) and others also belong to the Poppy family. Each of them consists of its own plant species. You can grow them. "
Here's an article ...

Mimosa hostilis (plant species Mimosa tenuiflora)

The plant is common in Mexico and Brazil, where it is used to prepare psychotropic decoctions. In Russia, mimosa of this variety was banned in 2017 and is now banned for cultivation even in small quantities. You can replace this plant with silver acacia. By the way, it is this plant that is mistakenly called mimosa in Russia and the former countries of the Soviet Union. Beautiful yellow inflorescences will perfectly complement any landscape, and the smell from them will overshadow any other flower.

Sage of diviners (plant of the species Salvia divinorum)

Another plant from Mexico, which is prohibited to grow on the territory of the Russian Federation and in many other countries. It also has medicinal properties, but it is better to refrain from decorating your site with this sage, because you can always choose another flower. For example, you can choose Powdery Sage or Clary Sage as advised by experienced users.

I want to "praise" the Victoria salvia (powdery sage). Bloomed all summer in the sun and is still as good as new, all in flowers. And on the balcony in a tub it feels great too!

Mine grows in the sun, the first year - only a rosette of leaves, and this year it has grown by 1.5 m, fluffed around the branches by about 50 cm, I did not think that he was so tall. I did not transplant mine - I rarely climbed, so it sits for 2 years. One bush fell into partial shade, not to say that it was stretched out, but it looks somehow paler. I wrote about its usefulness in medicinal plants.

Mitragyna is fine (plant of the species Mitragyna speciosa) - Kratom

A large tree from Southeast Asia. Its leaves have been widely used to treat coughs, hypertension, and diarrhea. Contains alkaloids and mitragynine subject to control in the Russian Federation. It is strictly forbidden to grow Mitragina beautiful on the site. And hardly anyone will want to, since the choice of trees for garden plots is quite large. For example, you can plant a tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera) or sumac.

Hawaiian rose (Argyreia nervosa plant)

A beautiful bindweed with expressive flowers. Homeland - the Indian subcontinent, but the spread went through Hawaii, hence the name. The plant has been used for many years as a decorative plant for decorating gardens, hedges and gazebos. However, when it became known that the Hawaiian rose contains strong psychotropic substances, it was also included in the banned list. You can replace it with other bindweed with no less beautiful and bright colors. For example, you can choose kobei.

A long time ago, more than 10 years ago, I was given one Kobei seed at the club of rare plants. Having grown a vine so unusual for those years, I dragged it to the Winter Garden for several years in the winter. I felt great. grew, bloomed. So, of course you can sow it now, but in two months it will start to grow actively. I would sow it, cut it out, grow it up and take it to a cooler room. I think it will be dark on the floor.

By the way, Kobeya, which I had been actively wintering, began to bloom at the end of April. So, maybe there is a connection, that with early sowing, it will bloom earlier, but of course you decide.

Cat (plant of the species Catha edulis)

The evergreen shrub is a welcome plant in many vegetable gardens and house plots. However, this bush from Ethiopia (there is also a version that it comes from Yemen) is banned in Russia and a number of other countries. Kat contains a strong substance, cathinone, which has a stimulating effect and belongs to the narcotic element. You can always plant Akubu or Boxwood in your garden. They will perfectly complement the landscape, but will not cause conflict with the law.

Ephedra (plant of the genus Ephedra L)

Most likely, many of you have seen ephedra growing freely in vacant lots or outside settlements. It has a wide distribution area in Russia and is even included in the Red Book. For a long time it was used as an ornamental plant, but after receiving research data, ephedra was also included in the list of prohibited plants. The reason is that ephedrine contains ephedrine, a potent psychotropic substance prohibited in the Russian Federation. Well, and, where is it without paradoxes.

You can sell and buy seeds of poppy, ephedra and other hemp. But nothing can be grown from them. This is our legislation.

Hemp (Cannabis plant)

Growing hemp has been banned for decades. It is about growing this plant in gardens or at home in flowerpots. At the same time, hemp is used in the production of food products (oils, seeds), as well as as a raw material for the creation of paper, clothing, ropes, etc. The hemp plant has psychotropic properties, and therefore is prohibited for cultivation on the territory of the Russian Federation. As indicated above, a new regulation has been approved. From now on allowed to grow hemp of certain varieties - in the dry mass of inflorescences and leaves, the proportion of tetrahydrocannabinol should not exceed 0.1%.

conclusions

Since February this year, the requirements for the cultivation of plant varieties from which narcotic and psychotropic substances are produced have changed. New decree allows the cultivation of some (those included in the register of breeding achievements and allowed for use) varieties sleeping pills and hemp - not related to the manufacture of illegal drugs and with a certain amount of active component.

We all understand that decorating a garden is an important element in the life of each of us. But don't break the law for an extra plant or flower in your composition. You can always find an approved analogue or replace your favorite plant with another one that is not subject to prohibitions and restrictions.

Not only flower beds are the decoration of the site, they are equally important and presentable tracksand garden decor. The video contains simple but interesting landscape ideas.
