Better late than never - long awaited renovation in the hallway
Our subscriber shared his history of repairs with us.
It has been a long time since we moved into our apartment. However, the moment of a decisive alteration of the corridor came only recently. This could not have happened at all, if not for one significant event.
Not long before the renovation work, an original idea came to mind - to start selling decorative stone. It is fashionable and relevant, moreover, it can bring a decent income, - we counted. Moreover, they decided to make the stone on their own, having previously purchased the necessary elements: special polyurethane molds, gypsum and a mixer. A working version for those who dared to implement something useful and unusual.
Stages of repair work
The process of preparing and creating the decorative stone took on average a couple of months. At the exit, we received the required amount of material per 8 m² of corridor - approximately 5 m² of gypsum stone.
It was important to come up with a sketch of a stone wall painting. We turned for inspiration not only to our imagination, but also used all sorts of sources of photo and video examples with patterns from artificial stone on the Internet. By the way, we managed to find a very worthy option, the idea of which was later, not without difficulty, brought to life.
But before proceeding with the creation of the stone relief, it was necessary to decide what kind of covering would be on the walls in the corridor. They chose between standard painting and applying liquid wallpaper. The choice was made in favor of the second option. Liquid wallpaper is an original and extremely practical alternative to gluing ordinary wallpaper. Especially for those people who keep pets in the apartment. Everyone knows about the unpleasant habits of our beloved pets to use the wall covering as a "scratching post" - the consequences are often the most dire and irreversible.
In connection with the future transformation of the walls, we had to replace the floor covering, without which the overall picture of the repair would not have looked complete. It was decided to purchase high-quality dense linoleum with a high degree of wear resistance. But the costs greatly disappointed us, because the cost of linoleum turned out to be unreasonably high. Perhaps it would be much more profitable to purchase laminate flooring at the most budgetary price, but, unfortunately, we simply did not have enough time to install it.
The end result delighted everyone, as the dark corridor had a great transformation before our eyes. Light wallpaper and patterns of white decorative stone have successfully ennobled the room.
