How to save money on renovating an apartment and what you need to be prepared for

I didn't know how much effort, money and time I would have to spend when I bought an apartment. It was a 34 square meter studio. I will share my experience and tell you about some of the nuances that appear only at the stage of renovation.
Choice of performer
The renovation began with the selection of the contractor who will supply the sockets, lay the laminate and so on. We decided not to spend money on a brigade of workers, and find one performer. We were offered an aunt's cousin who took good money. They gave about 30,000 rubles for his work. In the end, he did not do what he promised. The luminaires must be turned on separately, and in the end, all turned on. He did not have time to lay the floor, we fired him and were looking for a new employee.
I advise everyone who is going to make repairs to seriously approach the choice of one or those who will be engaged in repairs.
While looking for another worker, my father installed a regular toilet. In the new apartment, it became possible to relieve themselves. The new toilet was planned to be installed when all the equipment would come.
How we spent more than 300 thousand rubles on furniture and appliances
A month later, another artist was chosen who did everything the same as the last one and even more. Igor offered a very modest payment for his work. My wife and I knew him because he made my parents 20 years ago in the bathroom. The tile is still holding and nothing happened to it.
For 2 months Igor managed to:
- Lay laminate and tiles.
- Glue the wallpaper.
- Install a shower.
- Make partitions.
- Glue specific sections of the walls with a stone.
- Install skirting boards.
I would like to note that Igor did not only make repairs, but also went with us to choose the floor and tiles.
When you are going to buy appliances and furniture, I advise you to keep about 20 thousand rubles in stock. In Ikea and Leroy, we left 15 thousand more than we planned. This happened due to unexpected expenses.
Everything that Igor bought himself brought and moved to the 16th floor. We were lucky with the performer.
The last stage of repair
When all the furnishings were ready, we waited for the delivery of the furniture. Before that, we came to the new apartment to clean and wash the floors in order to set the bed in a clean room. Otherwise, it would get dirty and unnecessary problems would appear.
Now we just have to wait for the installation of the kitchen unit. Before that, we're going to clean the floors everywhere. When the kitchen is ready, you'll have to clean up and mop the floors again. Not so much from dirt as from sawdust.
The bed was delivered the other day. The assembly would cost 5 thousand rubles. We decided to assemble it ourselves. In the beginning we sat for about an hour in despair. But then we figured it out and began to collect it little by little. We made a lot of mistakes, we had to unscrew and tighten the bolts and screws again. Then we got used to it and the work went easier.
We made the whole frame and decided to assemble it completely the next day. I advise you to assemble the furniture yourself, as there is nothing difficult about it. And the prices for the assembly are unreasonably high.
After the repair, we are going to reconfigure the lamps ourselves so that we can adjust the brightness and intensity.
