How Crimeans learned to build houses for half the price: what material they save on
The private sector on the Crimean peninsula looks like one continuous unfinished business. For some reason, Crimeans believe that houses made of shell rock, the most popular building material on the peninsula, look aesthetically pleasing. Is it so?
The thing is that a high-quality cladding of a house made of shell rock will result in a pretty penny. And mold will appear in the house from poor quality. This is how they live: it is more profitable for the locals to leave their houses in an unsightly, but environmentally friendly form.
Curiously, shell rock is a natural natural material, it has been created for centuries and consists of shells, which means that the material is breathable and absolutely harmless to humans.
The main advantage of the Crimean shell houses is that they are cool in summer and warm in winter.
Why are other technologies not taking root on the peninsula? Houses from a wooden frame, which are so popular in Finland, are very rare in Crimea, because there is little wood on the peninsula. And houses made of SIP panels, a mega-popular technology in Canada, in the hot climate of Crimea can pose a danger to human health. After all, when heated, everything that will evaporate from the panels can be unsafe for humans.
Until recently, shell rock was the most budgetary material. But apparently demand creates a price. Although I must say that the Saki quarries are endless expanses where you can easily get lost. According to the technology, the shell rock is cut into blocks of 18 by 36 centimeters and delivered by KamAZ trucks to the cities of the Crimean peninsula. But the export price bites.
