Summer flowers that our Grandmothers loved to grow, but for some reason we Forgot them now
As a child, my grandmother's front garden seemed to me an amazing flower kingdom, in which, perhaps, fairies are found...
Today I have a flower garden myself. With trendy crops and exotic species, rare and popular hybrid varieties.
But only recently I decided to "settle" in it those very old country flowers. They are beautiful! And we forgot them completely in vain!
Dahlias
They decorate the garden from the middle of summer until frost. Flowers can be up to 30 cm in diameter. There are no requirements for the composition of the soil, the main thing is that it is not waterlogged.
I plant dahlias by the fence and behind the gazebo - because it is important for them to have shelter from the winds. Good sun exposure for colorful blooms should last only 6 hours a day, so they can still be planted under thin tree crowns.
Leaving is minimal, but for the winter it is imperative to dig out tubers for storage in special conditions that are returned to the open ground after the final warming.
Avens
Belongs to the Rosaceae family and therefore a bit like a rose hip. About 20 varieties have been cultivated. But the most widespread are only 3.
This gravilat is bright red - a lush shrub up to 1.5 meters in height, blooms in May. And also river - can only reproduce by seeds, flowers are pink, yellow and white.
And finally - a mountain, miniature shrub does not exceed 15 cm, inflorescences are painted in a yellow tone, blooms for 2 months. The gravilat, planted near paths and on the banks of water bodies, looks spectacular.
Day-lily
An amazing plant that can exist in one place for 8-10 years. Each flower blooms for just a day, and then withers, but since the buds are formed constantly and in huge numbers, it seems that the daylily is always blooming.
The choice of a place in the garden depends on the color. Daylilies pink, yellow, and other light shades need a lot of sun. And varieties painted in dark colors need partial shade.
Vatochnik
Small flowers are collected in umbellate inflorescences on stems up to 1 meter high. The varietal variety includes red, orange, pink and white flowers. Decorates the garden until early October.
Fertilizing the plant is not required if the soil is fertile, on a poor one - top dressing is applied once in the spring.
Reproduction is possible by seeds or, if you want to achieve the fastest flowering, through seedlings.
