Errors in the installation of sewage systems that lead to leaks and other problems
A small mistake in the installation of the sewer system can lead to many problems. It is better to find out all the nuances before starting work. Let's talk about the mistakes that many make when arranging the sewage system.
Ventilation
If you don't want the house to smell like waste, then you should know in advance about some points.
There is a vacuum in the pipes, a gurgling sound and an unpleasant odor. It is necessary to remove all risers above the roof of the house (height 0.5 m). If this is not possible, then a special aeration valve can be installed.
In an apartment building, such a valve can be installed in any vertical area. A tee is built into the system, then a vertical pipe is mounted, and then a ventilation valve is attached.
In a private house, in order not to pass a fan pipe through the roof, it is led to the attic and a vacuum valve on top of it. If the attic is cold, then the pipe should be insulated. The valve should not be insulated.
Pipes in the ground
Lining sewer pipes underground can lead to unpleasant consequences. In winter, with severe frosts, the possibility of freezing of drains arises. According to the norms, the depth of the pipes must be at least 70 cm. It is necessary to insulate the place of the pipes that pass through the foundation.
Sounds
When designing a sewage system, you need to think about sound insulation. Sounds like this can get tiresome. To reduce the noise level, you need to cover the pipe with materials that absorb vibration. Wrap the material around the pipe and secure with reinforced tape or cable ties.
Pipe size
A common mistake for beginners. It is important to choose the correct pipe diameter. Pay attention to the color of the pipes. This indicates the purpose of the sewer element.
Orange and black for outdoor use, and gray and white for indoor use.
Bias
During installation, it is important to maintain the correct slope of the pipes. With a pipe diameter of 32-50 mm. you need to make a slope of at least 30 mm. per running meter.
If the pipe diameter is above 110 mm, then the slope must be at least 20 mm. per running meter.
