How to make a blind area from clay? 2 options
This design tolerates temperature changes well. The clay layer is not deformed by soil displacement. It's easy to work with clay, anyone can handle it on their own.
This does not mean that the blind area is only made of clay. If you do this, it will begin to swell, absorb moisture. Clay is necessary to create a "castle" for water around the perimeter.
So we dig a trench. Width 800 mm, depth 300 mm.
Then a layer of "oily" clay is laid (9-15 cm). Ram. Don't forget about the bias.
Then spread polyethylene (thickness 2mm.). Fasten the foil to the foundation with a strip. Then the layers of sand (10 cm) and crushed stone are laid. The sand should be moist and well compacted. Do not forget about geotextiles at the bottom and top of the rubble so that the grass does not germinate.
There is a more economical option. A trench is dug around the perimeter. Clay is poured, compacted. Waterproofing is spread on it, then a layer of sand is compacted. On the sand there is a layer of geotextile and crushed stone on top.
