How it all started

After acquiring a small plot of 5 acres on the Black Sea coast, I had a question about building my own house. For two years I studied construction, drew many layouts and settled on a house measuring 6.2 * 7 m from a D500 gas block, with a wall thickness of 20 cm. Although initially I painted the area twice more. However, I came to the opinion that there is no need for redundancy, only an overpayment for electricity (there is no gas here). I believe that with a competent planning for a family of 3-4 people, such an area is enough for the eyes.

Step-by-step instructions for building a foundation

It took 7 days to build the foundation on our own.

Day 1: decided on the size and materials of the house, and its place on the site

  1. The ground here is rocky, not heaving. According to my project, it was planned to make the width of the MZFL tape 40 cm, but it turned out 50 (more on that later). The thickness of the tape is 30 cm, the depth is 50 cm. M350 concrete, fiberglass reinforcement, bedding - marl elimination.
  2. I marked the perimeter of the house with a cord. I will not go into details here, I will just say that I also marked the outer edge by digging with a shovel to make it easier for the excavator to navigate.
  3. Found an excavator for ads. I spent half a day on this, in the end I hired an inexpensive excavator operator on the recommendation of a neighbor - 100 rubles. per running meter of digging (perimeter 26 meters).
The excavator is indispensable for digging a foundation, especially in mountainous areas

Day 2: earthwork

The excavator completed its job in 30 minutes. In some places he walked crookedly, so I corrected with a shovel. The excavator cheated - his bucket turned out to be 50 cm, and not 40, as he said. I decided that a width of 50 cm is even better - the foundation will be stronger.

Day 3: search for rubble and sand

Here's an interesting thing - everywhere they write one price in the ads, and when you call, they name a completely different one. And it's annoying. The prices for crushed stone are somewhat cosmic here (1200-1600 rubles), but my budget is limited. But salvation came in the face of the same excavator operator - he offered to bring a dump truck, dropping out of marl for only 3500 rubles. I started looking for information on the Internet about this material and in the end I came to the conclusion that it is quite suitable for bedding. I experienced this sifting out, namely poured water on it abundantly. Result: when wetted, the marl turns into a kind of clay and a clay crust forms on its surface, and the water does not pass further - excellent waterproofing. I kill two birds with one stone - and there is a bedding, and protection of the foundation from groundwater.

I buy a cart for 800 rubles, and fill the trench with screenings to the desired mark. My own legs acted as a vibrating plate - I jumped and danced on the bed for 2 hours with short breaks.

Marl

Day 4: Plank formwork

A cube of wood costs 10,500 rubles. In order to save money, the boards protrude only above the ground and slightly downward (onto a board or half a board). The rest of the concrete is poured directly into the ground - a little more of it will go away than with the formwork to the very bottom (about half a cube), but still concrete is cheaper than planks.

Day 5: Laying the pipe section

I decided to lay a pipe with a diameter of 160 mm so that a pipe of 110 mm would pass through it. And also laying a 50 mm pipe segment opposite the well (there is already a well). The sewer pipe is located 20 cm above the ground. From experience I know that the sewage system does not freeze here - the pipe from my trailer goes directly above the ground.

Day 6: Knitting fiberglass reinforcement

There are a lot of disputes over fiberglass reinforcement - the builders cannot come to a consensus and are divided into two camps - some praise, others hayut. I decided that the devil is not so terrible as he is painted. Well, again, the economic side of the issue - I didn't have to buy a grinder for it, on the whole it came out cheaper than if I made it from a metal one.

Fiberglass reinforcement

The mating took a whole day. Some sleight of hand is welcome here. I fastened it with plastic clamps - so I tied half the perimeter, a tedious task. Then a brilliant idea came to do so - to drill holes in the formwork, and transverse reinforcement bars (upper), to install directly in the formwork - thus, they are fixed tightly. And on top of them are longitudinal reinforcement bars. The lower ones are attached with wire to the mesh. And a net on plastic chairs for a distance.

Day 7: Big concrete

The most important event is coming. I bought concrete M350 at 3500 r. per cubic meter A mixer came from Novorossiysk, I gave instructions, and started. First, he drove up to one corner, concrete is pouring, I row with a shovel, push the plastic mass further. You need to work quickly here, concrete does not suffer delays. Then the concrete mixer drove up to another corner and so on. I ran and ran with a shovel, leveled, and at the end I still ran with a bucket, because he unloaded the remaining mass on the ground, and then I picked up and unloaded from there where there was little.

I began to remove the formwork on the third day, then I took out the earth on a cart, which was thrown by the excavator. And I also began to dig in the foundation around the perimeter and pour in the dropouts of marl to make a waterproof lock.

My project

How much did I spend on the foundation

Estimate:

  • 3000 RUB - digging a trench.
  • 3500 RUB - sifting of marl.
  • 1800 RUB - 3 skeins of fiberglass reinforcement, 6 mm x 25 m.
  • 4000 RUB - boards.
  • 16000 p. - concrete 4 cubes.
  • 500 p. - thin film 2 * 13 m.
  • 2500 RUB - tools and small things (including a trolley for 800 rubles, a bolt cutter for 650 rubles, a hydraulic level, self-tapping screws)

Total: 31300 rub.
