Do-it-yourself two-meter benches in the steam room
The main decoration of any steam room is not only its external wall decoration, but also the shelves. In addition, they are considered a necessary element of the sauna arrangement. Therefore, it is very important to get them right. Below are the requirements for the material of the shelves for the steam room and step-by-step instructions for creating them are given.
Requirements for the material of bath benches
In order for a bath bench made with your own hands to serve for many years, you should approach the selection of wood material with great responsibility. The tree must have:
· High density, durability, so that it cannot crack during application;
· Low level of thermal conductivity, because during the temperature rise the material will be dangerous;
· Moisture resistance for a long service life of bath furniture.
Necessarily all wood, namely lining (it is better to stop at larch, oak or cedar), must be carefully sanded with coarse and fine sandpaper or special abrasive equipment. All corners should have a rounded surface. Bath furniture must have high strength properties, withstand the weight of at least five bath attendants. Do not use synthetic compounds, varnishes and paints for impregnating the material. At high temperatures, they will release harmful toxins. For processing, it is better to use natural compounds.
Step-by-step instructions for creating shelves in the bath
Before constructing the shelves, you must take the following material: a bar with a section of 6 by 7 centimeters, slats 2 by 6 centimeters, metal or wooden fasteners. Prepare a saw with a hammer, pliers, screwdriver, grinder, tape measure and level. Follow the instructions:
1. Saw the timber into four pieces half a meter long;
2. Assemble the racks in a U-shape, removing several pieces of the bar to obtain transverse jumpers;
3. Cut slats along the length of the product;
4. Assemble the bench by making jumpers on the prepared slats with a centimeter gap;
5. Make the strapping of the bench with special corners.
Note! From the wall to the shelves, maintain a gap at the edges within 10 centimeters.
As a result, benches in the steam room of a bath should be made of dense, low-heat-conductive, moisture-resistant material. For beauty, do not use synthetic compounds that release toxic substances at high temperatures. Be sure to use sanded boards to create one-, two- or three-tiered benches. Be sure to follow the step-by-step instructions above to avoid installation errors.
