The cost of one garbage bag in Sweden (spoiler: expensive). But everything is learned by comparison. And everything can be very tricky

How much is your trash bag worth? A ruble or two? This is if the cheapest. And if you imagine that you bought an eco-trash bag? Or super sturdy with handles? Or flavored? 10 rubles on average. A plastic bag for purchases costs the same in some stores, which is also not very cheap. Indeed, 10-15 rubles is not the same price for a package that sooner or later goes to the trash. But everything is learned by comparison. And everything can be very tricky, like in Sweden.

What is Sweden? In terms of garbage and its handling, this is a different planet. In Sweden, almost 100% of waste is recycled, which cannot be recycled - they burn it and get energy. Since the 90s of the 20th century, this whole waste processing system has developed very strongly, which is based on separate waste collection - division into at least 11 types! Separately paper, glass (and separately colored, separately transparent), food waste.

In a house or apartment, each family has, on average, at least 7 different containers for garbage collection, a bag is often placed in them of a certain color (these bags are free, according to them at the sorting station, garbage is easily sorted using spectrometers). And there is also bulky waste - old furniture, appliances - you can't just go and take it out to the garbage area. Such garbage is sent to special garbage collection points, where you can find anything you want - separately TVs, microwave ovens, furniture, often divided into parts - separate wood, separate glass.

Okay, two or three types of garbage to distribute, it would seem, it can still be overpowered, but specially go to take out your old refrigerator? Crazy, as our people might think. And for them it is not normal to take the equipment out into the street (it is also expensive - they are fined). And the whole family gets together and goes to take out their old refrigerator. Or they cooperate with neighbors, hire a special car and take it all to the landfill. Refrigerators cost something like this:

It's funny: you can bring equipment there in any condition, you can find very little used things there. But you won't be able to take it with you from there. Neither paid nor free. No way. You just can't. And no one is trying to challenge this. All this has already been recorded on the subcortex of people, from early childhood, now children from childhood are shown cartoons in which the characters sort the garbage. Then in kindergartens and schools, they go to lessons that are dedicated to recycling

But not only on the environmental issue, the Swedes are concerned with sorting waste. Most cities are divided into communes in which people throw garbage together. And if someone sorted the trash poorly (for example, put a glass bottle in a plastic container), on this commune is issued a significant fine, which is placed on the shoulders and wallets of each person in commune. Moreover, even divided into all, it is still tangible for every family. And the whole commune is playing a quest, find the one who messed up, explain that it is not worth doing this, and that he must compensate everyone for the expenses of all neighbors.

Back to the topic of the post. How much can a garbage bag cost? The one for garbage that is not sorted at home. 2 euros per roll of 30 packages, that is, approximately 5 rubles per package. Pf... And you were preparing to see an unrealistic figure. Wait. Not everything is so simple and not only people pay for the package. They pay for garbage collection too, but a different rate: Swedes pay about 150-200 euros per year for the removal of sorted garbage (who lives in apartment buildings he pays less, in private - more, and this is about 1000-1350 rubles a month - the difference is already felt, according to compared with Russia), they pay more for unsorted waste - the garbage first goes to the sorting landfill, and only then to garbage recycling. What I found was that the cost of such a long trash trip increases by about 2 times. Have you added all this to the garbage bag cost?

And so not only in Sweden, many countries in Europe have switched to such systems. They are Europeans, they are more advanced. Okay, what can you say about Asia, where in many countries since 2019 they began to refuse shopping bags in stores? And carry it however you want, especially if you are a tourist. And all because their pollution is colossal ...

What do you say: are you ready to pay for a garbage bag, like the Swedes? Or have you already stocked up on eco-bags and started separating the trash?
