An unusual birdhouse made of boards and a coffee can

Greetings to the homemade comrades and others who are quarantined idle. If you are already sitting, then let's do something useful, such as a birdhouse. It is useful that you can spend time usefully and the birds will thank you.

I got the idea from an American homemade product and she interested me with her non-standard approach. A birdhouse of several boards and an ordinary coffee can.

For work, in addition to boards, naturally, we need a screwdriver, a corner, a saw and a hammer, wood glue, a feather drill, a tape measure and a pencil.

Take a drill bit at your discretion, depending on the size of the birds for which you are making a house. Wood glue is also not required, you can twist the boards without it. Drills are needed to drill holes for self-tapping screws, so that the tree does not crack when twisting.

For work, take a board, you can rough it not polished. The photo below showed how to cut it. Do not look at the dimensions, as they depend on the size of the bird and the container itself, which you will use instead of a coffee can.

Personally, I will use a 5 liter plastic bottle, my birdhouse will turn out to be a big one))

In the photo above, there are two sections for the conditional roof of the birdhouse and two sections for the facades. Further, the author immediately makes a pencil mark on one large segment. The dimensions of the can and the place of joining with the second segment are marked there.

By the way, maybe not everyone noticed, but one of the roofing sections of the board is slightly smaller in size, less in width exactly by the size of the board's thickness, I think everyone understands why this is done))

Next, we connect the sections of the roof to each other as shown in the photo. The author pre-planted the segments on the glue, but this may not be done. If the birdhouse will hang under the roof, then leave it as it is, and if under the open sky, then the roof must be closed and protected from environmental influences.

You can nail a piece of old linoleum there, paint the surface, or install a sheet of tin. In general, see for yourself what you have there in the barn lying ownerless.

Next, we install the end pieces of the future birdhouse.

In the front part, we drill a hole for the birds using a feather drill. As I said, choose the diameter depending on the size of your birds.

I remembered the story, I don't remember where I read it, often birds feed their chicks to such an extent that as a result they simply cannot crawl through the hole in the hollow. Probably the author foresaw this and made it possible to remove the coffee can if necessary))

Ultimately, you should get such a design.

But this is a funny jamb, from which no one is immune)) Now for some reason I remembered the famous comedian Mikhail Zadornov. Well, who doesn't happen to? Thought, dreamed, thought about birds.

The bank is fixed with a wooden round bar. To do this, holes are drilled in the lower part of the front sections along the diameter of the rod, the excess is cut off. But I think that you shouldn't bother with such nonsense and there are many options to make it easier.

In the upper part of the birdhouse, we use these screws with a ring, for which we will hang the birdhouse.

The author used hooks that he screwed directly into the ceiling and hung the birdhouse on them. it is advisable not to hang such a house in places with a draft, and even more so not to hang on ropes, since in a strong wind the birds will not be very happy))

In general, it turned out to be a very successful and unusual design. Moreover, the birds on the porch bring happiness to the house, according to folk signs.
