Peonies have always grown on my site. But before, when I just started gardening, it was very bad. Then, on advice from literature, I began to make a special top dressing in May, and my favorite flowers thanked me with lush flowering. Personal experience: I got the old peony bushes from the previous owner of the garden. I really love them when, in early summer, bushes with a carved leaf dress formal outfit. She learned to find an approach to peonies on the "oldies" of the site, and then began to buy new varieties. And the top dressing recipe, which I will now share with you, is liked by each of them
Let's take a little closer look at the principle of choosing a May fertilizer for a peony:
- Now he showed his shoots from the ground, soon turning into a luxurious green crown. This means that the plant needs nitrogen (N), whose competence is to stimulate the growth of stems and leaves.
- But on the other hand, one cannot refuse phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) affecting flowering. After all, very soon the peony will begin to gain buds, and then it will open its lush hats. 🌺
Therefore, for the May feeding of the peony, which directly affects the splendor of the flowering and health of the garden plant as a whole, I choose such options:
- A recipe from a book on gardening: 10 g of nitrogen fertilizer in granules, 20 g of phosphorus and 30 g of potash. For example, I take ammonium nitrate, superphosphate, and potassium salt.
- Now there are ready-made complex mineral fertilizers with a similar composition. For example, "Spring" from "Fasco". Now I use this option because I am too lazy to measure something, I confess 😊
And now about the correct one mode of application - I do this every year and am happy (my peonies too):
Fertilize like this: make a groove around the bush (without damaging the heart of the peony) and evenly pour the required amount of granules there. Cover with earth and spill gently with water so that the fertilizing begins to dissolve and act immediately. Let me remind you once again that 1 peony bush needs at least 3-5 liters of water - depending on the scale.
