DIY laser level. Two manufacturing options

If you are a builder or a professional master in the field of interior renovation, then in your arsenal of tools there must be a laser level. Ideally with a tripod and a photodetector (for work in clear weather). But if you need a laser level at most once a year, for example, to mark the position of the shelves on the wall, etc., then spend an amount of $ 3,000 or more. rub. not always reasonable. It is possible within the amount of 300 rubles. and time ~ 2 hours to make a laser level with your own hands.

1. Laser level for horizontal marking on a tripod.

As is clear, for homemade work, you need a tripod for the camera. Their cost is from 1000 rubles. It's good if you already have it. But also for working with a professional laser level, for marking high above the floor surface - a tripod is necessary. So, we look at the assembly process of the laser level itself:

Requires a wooden block. We glue the tube to it to fix the laser pointer. Different wattage can be purchased on aliexpress. But too powerful will not work - if the beam hits the eyes, there will be dire consequences. So go for a regular laser pointer. The list of what you need is on the third slide.

You will need a miniature electric motor (from children's toys or purchased from radio goods). If you do not find it, then it is purchased in advance on aliexpress here:

This electric motor is powered by a voltage of 3-5 V. You will not need a 9 V Krona battery (as in the photos), but 3 AA or AAA batteries. They can also be glued on hot melt glue. Also, ideally, you need a soldering iron with solder. Or just screw the wires to the connectors.

Fastening these parts with hot melt glue will avoid displacement and imbalance. To prevent the parts from flying off (when falling, for example) - for reliability, we tighten them with plastic ties.

Next, you need to fix a small mirror on the motor shaft. It can be taken out of an old women's cosmetic bag or cut from a large one with a glass cutter. We glue the tube that will be put on the axle with the same hot melt glue.

Next, screw on the latch to mount the device on a tripod. The mirror rotates and the laser beam is reflected in different directions, almost 360 degrees. (there will be slight shading by the laser pointer itself).

The device is not self-leveling horizontally. A horizontal level on a tripod is used for this. Of course, the accuracy of such a device is not high, everything will depend on the vertical position of the axis of the electric motor and mirror. But for marking the shelves or the approximate level of the location of the outlets, etc. - will do.

2. Another similar device is a laser level with horizontal and vertical beam and self-leveling:

Homemade product is more difficult to manufacture, but the cost is about the same as the first option. The aluminum plates can be replaced with construction corners and brackets from the hardware store.

The most difficult thing is to make a bearing assembly for leveling the suspended electronic part in two planes: horizontally and vertically.

It will be necessary in advance to purchase a laser module on aliexpress that emits a "+" beam. Link per module. Power supply: 3-5 V.

The author assembled the electronic part along with the battery and the charging module for it. But since this laser level will not be used often, then 2-3 simple finger batteries will last for a long time.

After assembling the laser level, it needs to be adjusted, calibrated. To do this, you need to draw vertical and horizontal lines on the wall and by adding and adjusting bolts to one or the other side in the device case - to achieve coincidence of the line and strictly horizontal and vertical position of the beam laser. After that, the level is ready.
