Secrets and tricks for summer residents: restoring a rusty barrel, heating the greenhouse + the secret of an early harvest of cucumbers

For many, the dacha is a place of rest despite the work in the garden. Everyone is looking forward to the start of the summer cottage season. To make your work a joy, we have prepared useful tips for the garden and vegetable garden for you. Anything that can facilitate work and be useful.

Old things that are lying around can come in handy. For example, old watering cans, buckets, or a barrel.

Barrel. Iron barrels quickly deteriorate.

They rust from contact with water and begin to leak. It can be fixed. Buy large garbage bags of 300 liters. Insert them into the barrel and secure around the top. You can do this with a piece of an old garden hose. The bag will become slippery over time. Don't throw it away, just turn it out and put it back in the barrel.

You can protect the barrel from rust like this. Dilute cement (M400 or 500) with water. You need to achieve a consistency like thick paint. Now take a brush and paint over the inside of the barrel. Then turn over and put a bucket of water so that the cement dries out and there are no cracks. After drying, apply another second and third layer.

Greenhouse. The soil in the greenhouse is depleted, what should I do? EM drugs will help. You can simply remove a 20 cm layer of earth. and fill in a mixture of humus (2 parts), part of the land from the garden, a little river sand and 5 parts of peat. You can also add sawdust, dry foliage and plant seedlings.

Gardening Tools. In the spring there is a lot of work in the garden. It is often necessary to cut down old, dry branches. An old, rusty garden saw can be repaired with soap. To cut it easier and less effort, rub the saw on 2 sides with any soap.

The secret of early cucumbers. A little secret to get the first harvest in June.

This requires plastic containers. Many people buy seedlings and throw them away. We suggest using containers in your garden for a rich, early harvest.

So, we make slots in the container and holes in the bottom. Now we put the trash bag on the container and fasten it with tape. We fill the ground and plant the early varieties of cucumbers. We leave on the balcony until 5 leaves appear. Containers are easy to transport. We plant it in the ground directly in the container, but after removing the package. The secret is that the roots are not damaged and the cucumbers grow quickly. Plus, the containers can be reused.
