Do you want to transplant petunia without negative consequences so that the bush quickly goes into growth and bloom? Follow the simple rules for transplanting, whether it be in open ground, in a flower pot or in a hanging box. Ideally, the plant should hardly notice the radical changes in its one-year existence.

I plant petunias every year, growing my own seedlings. And every year I say that I will no longer do this: there are many other wonderful flowers around... But every February I buy the coveted bag of seeds again, and in the fall I save the mother plant of a vegetative variety

What, in fact, is the difficulty

Any transplant, even the most gentle, is stress for the plant. And petunia, being the owner of delicate roots, can completely fall into depression from it.

Until a young petunia takes root in a new place, its root system will not be able to normally feed the plant with moisture and nutrients.

. Well-rooted petunia, on the other hand, pours its shoots with water with mineral and organic substances. As a result, the grower sees active growth and a set of buds.

When replanting petunia seedlings to a permanent place, be it a pots or a flower bed, the florist has to perform 2 important tasks:

• Make sure the petunia takes root as soon as possible.
• Create soft conditions for the adaptation period. A vulnerable plant should not throw all its strength into survival, otherwise then we will see depressed growth and several rare flowers instead of a whole hat.

When to plant petunia

Try to choose average weather: not hot, there are clouds in the sky, a little rain may drizzle, but not rain. The scorching rays of the sun will quickly dry up the seedlings, but it will not be able to fully "drink" because of the weak work of the root system.

If it so happened that the planting fell on a hot and sunny day, temporarily put a box or pots with petunias in the shade. Then gradually take the containers out into the sun.

Remember that petunia is a thermophilic plant. Therefore, you should not rush: wait until the heat settles:

• During the day - at least 15 ° C;
• At night - not less than 10 ° C.

In my own North-West Russia, I plant petunia seedlings in boxes and open ground in mid or late May. Necessarily after the so-called "bird cherry cold".

How to plant petunia correctly

1. Prepare containers for planting. Their volume depends on the variety. For example, the simplest petunia from a regular seed bag needs at least 5 liters per plant. Enchanting varieties of vegetative propagation need as much as 30 and even 50 liters. Therefore, be sure to check the requirements of your personal plant.

2. Prepare the ground. It should be loose and nutritious. The best option is soil based on high-moor neutralized peat, and not black soil from the garden. Planting in a bed with heavy soil? Loosen it with coarse sand.

3. Give food. Add granular fertilizer to the soil. I use "Nitroammophos" or any fertilizer "For blooming", where there is more potassium and phosphorus than nitrogen. They will give a young, actively growing seedling a minimum starting supply of food.

4. Prepare the planting hole for the size of the container in which the petunia grows. The hole should be a couple of centimeters larger. Spill it a little with water.

5. Push onto the container from all sides until the ground can easily move away from the walls. Carefully get out an earthen lump and, without destroying it, put it in the prepared hole. The voids on the sides fall asleep soil. It is important to ensure that the petunia is not too deep.

6. Once again, just a little bit pour top with warm water.
