It's a shame when it is impossible to bring your ideal interior to life! Constraints are everywhere: there is no wallpaper of the right color, or it is too catchy, or the drawing is not the right one... I propose a simple way out - use paint!
Good afternoon dear friends!
Although painted walls in the subconscious of many are still associated with an office or hospital. Therefore, in a home environment, such decoration is rarely used. But in vain! After all, this is a very convenient "tool" that allows you to visually shape your space, combine or transform boundaries, shift focus and transform building defects and architectural "features" into advantages. Therefore, today I decided to reveal 4 secrets to help bring your design ideas to life.
And what to choose: wallpaper for painting or simple painting of walls - it's up to you.
1.The advantage of surface painting. So what can you do with paint? Change proportions, divide space, erase visual boundaries... She will be an excellent "helper" in the combined rooms. Surface painting makes it possible to make a smooth transition between kitchen and dining room, hallway and living room. Or, for example, visually transform part of the corridor into the space of the room, if you decorate them with one color.
Not often used technique - horizontal coloring at eye level, changes the size of the room. It looks especially good in the nursery, as it coordinates the overall interior design with the growth of the little owner, creating additional comfort for him.
Another design approach is used to visually raise the ceiling. It consists in painting the upper part of the wall in the color of the ceiling. This small narrow strip noticeably displaces / lifts the overlap from its place.
2.Nuances to be aware of. The shape of the room, its architectural features, the number of light sources and the angle of incidence.
You should not do accent coloring on those walls on which windows or a balcony are located. Since a person's gaze is directed into the distance behind them, and not around. The color finish is placed on one of the adjacent surfaces or the one that is opposite.
At the same time, remember that before painting, especially careful preparation should be given to the wall that is illuminated by the direct rays of the sun. Otherwise, all irregularities and imperfections of the surface will be in the most conspicuous place.
The matte design better hides defects, while the gloss, on the contrary, will make them more visible. It is also important to take into account that glossy coatings can change color, as they are reflective.
3.Color selection. There are no good or bad tones, it is important to choose the right paint that suits your purposes. Light ones expand the space, dark ones allow you to visually change the geometry of the room, making it cozier and warmer.
You can also enlarge the room by using two similar shades. In this case, the corners are distinguished lighter, and the rest of the surfaces are made out a couple of tones darker.
Keep in mind that when using two or more colors, one of them may change in an unexpected way due to the peculiarities of our vision. Therefore, if you are not sure of your sense of color or the harmonious choice of a combination, it is better to arrange the room in a single background. At the same time, try to combine different types of coatings, alternating matte surfaces with glossy ones.
4.An important aspect. Before painting, do a simple test: paint A4 sheet and fix it on the surface you want. This will allow you to imagine / understand the end result. You can carry out a similar check directly on the wall, but the paint should be a couple of tones lighter than what is planned. Also keep in mind that painted surfaces will change their color throughout the day. Therefore, it is better to conduct such an experiment under both natural and artificial lighting.
Of course, staining requires a lot of preparatory work. At the same time, it will allow you to save energy and money when carrying out future repairs.
