How I gave preference to a domestic brand when choosing a screwdriver for building my own house and why
I am building my own private house, so I need a different tool. One of my first acquisitions was a screwdriver. This is a very multifunctional and irreplaceable thing in the construction site, which drills and tightens self-tapping screws, and performs many other different functions, for example, interferes with building mixtures.
Since I needed a reliable working tool, when choosing, I paid attention to the following technical characteristics:
· Power. During construction, I have to screw screws of different diameters and lengths into a variety of materials, such as wood, metal, drywall. Accordingly, the power of the screwdriver must be high. I chose a cordless screwdriver that operates on 18 V with a speed of 1000 rpm and a torque of around 25 Nm.
· Battery capacity. At first, I did not have electricity at the construction site and required such an amount of charge that would allow me to work all day without additional recharging. I needed a li-ion battery with a capacity of 2 amperes and above.
· Price-quality ratio. I wanted to choose a tool that would be both cheap and cheerful.
The most budgetary and suitable in terms of parameters turned out to be the domestic screwdriver Diold DEA-18LI-04. I have already worked with him for three years and can share my impressions of using this tool.
The screwdriver perfectly copes with screwing self-tapping screws up to 55 mm long into a metal profile, which was used to batten the interior and exterior of the house. With the help of the tool, about 100 squares of walls with plasterboard and about 70 squares with facade panels were sheathed.
He also easily coped with roofing screws screwed into 6 mm metal when erecting a fence.
The tool showed itself well when creating holes with a drill with a diameter of 15 mm in a pine beam 100x100 mm. With his help, he fixed the joists for the floor in the house and shed.
He coped well with drilling a brick with a 6 mm drill for dowel-nails, which were hammered in to fix the fastening of a metal lattice.
The screwdriver did not raise any questions and when drilling metal with a thickness of 6 mm it did an excellent job. The drill diameter used was 4-10 mm.
Sometimes there was not enough power when tightening screws with a diameter of more than 3.5 mm and a length of over 70 mm. Also, this tool did not take some very dense brick, it was necessary to use a hammer drill. Other disadvantages include the low viability of one of the batteries: after 2 years it began to die after 10-20 minutes of operation, although the second one still holds a charge for about 2-3 hours of active use.
Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase. Quite a good budget workhorse that has already proven itself well. It is doubly pleasant that this is a product of our domestic manufacturer.
For those who need a multifunctional device for a considerable amount of construction work, I recommend this option. If the purpose of acquiring a screwdriver is such household needs as assembling furniture or hanging a picture on the wall, then there is no point in taking such a tool, you can do something simpler with less power and weaker battery. If you need more intensive use for a large amount of work, then it is better to choose more powerful and with a larger charge capacity.
What do you think, is it worth chasing a foreign brand or do you agree that ours can do well too?
