How to install a gate to a garage from a gas block: builder's advice

Aerated concrete is not the best material for hanging weights, especially when it comes to gates and other weighty structures. "Tell me how to put the garage door correctly. There will be no side wall, I plan to make the gates swing 2.8 * 2.5. Is it possible to lay the front wall made of aerated concrete? Will it withstand the weight of the gate, if in fact there is no wall fastening to the neighboring garage on the left? Is it necessary to make a jumper above the gate, or can I take the 75th corner? "

“If you are going to build a garage entirely of aerated concrete without a side wall, you need to anchor every second row masonry into the wall to an already standing garage, and then tie the door frame on both sides of the gas block, at least with a corner 75 mm. That is, to make a clip around the walls, which will be one piece with a lintel from the same corner 75 mm. Reinforce each 3-4th row of masonry in two rows with 8 mm reinforcement, tying the corners. In this case, the gate will be in aerated concrete ”.

The best garage option

"As far as I understand, all your neighbors have a front wall made of bricks, and the walls between adjacent garages are filled with aerated concrete blocks." It will be advisable to make all the bearing and external walls of solid bricks, make a monolithic lintel, armored belt and cover with reinforced concrete slabs. It is in this case that you get a full-fledged garage. Do not forget - this is a more reliable protection of the car and equipment from uninvited guests. And the question: will the gas block withstand the swing gates - disappears automatically ”.
