It has been experimentally found that at a voltage of 15-20 volts, the resistance can vary from 3 ohms to 100 ohms and even more.

At the same time, clean and dry skin shows high resistance, without obvious defects and damage.

In order to perform approximate calculations, it was customary to consider the resistance of the human body as 1 kOhm both at direct current and at alternating current with a frequency of 50 Hertz.

Although in some cases the resistance can be hundreds of times higher than the accepted value.

How is this resistance created?

The question would sound quite logical: So how is this resistance created?

So basically, resistance is created due to keratinized cells of the epidermis. It plays the role of a dielectric and has the highest resistance. All other layers of the skin are conductive.

But there is one important nuance. In fact, the epidermis is a dielectric between conductive areas, which means that it is nothing else, like a conventional capacitor and thus adds a capacitive component in parallel with the active resistance.

And this component begins to show itself with increasing frequency.

So, if a person touches live parts that are energized with a frequency of more than 10 kHz, then the insulating properties of the epidermis will be zero.

This means that the overall resistance of the body will be much lower than usual and will be caused only by the resistance of the tissues of the internal organs.
