How to calculate the size of the ventilation facade air gap?
The parameters of the air gap are calculated based on the characteristics of the building, the materials used and the operation of the building, as well as the properties of the materials from which the facade cladding is made.
The optimum air gap for a ventilated facade is 25 millimeters. At the same time, it should be remembered that the device of a ventilated facade allows a slight deviation from the design parameters in the direction of increase.
In addition, if we are talking about the device of a ventilated facade system on buildings of an old building, then due to shrinkage and just by the will of the masters, the external walls can have significant deviations of the plane, both vertically and horizontally. Naturally, when installing a ventilation facade, these irregularities have to be smoothed out by adjusting the size of the air gap.
Ventfasad does not lose its effectiveness from this. On the contrary, the larger the air layer, the more efficient the moisture removal. Nevertheless, for reasons of economy of materials, ventilated aluminum facades are installed in compliance with the minimum required thickness of the interlayer or with a slight increase in it.
