We glue the wallpaper ourselves. What, how and why, let's figure it out.
Wall murals help to quickly and cheaply change the design of any room. Many people dream of the snow-capped Alps or the jungles of South America in their bedroom. If you are one of those people, then photo wallpaper is just for you. This is very beneficial.
Recently, printing photos on any surfaces has become noticeably cheaper. In addition, there is no need to spend money on calling workers. It is very easy to paste such wallpapers without any outside help.
What do you need?
You can glue the wallpaper yourself in three simple steps:
- choose glue;
- prepare the wall;
- actually stick it on.
You will also need basic tools: a utility knife (the more the better), a glue roller, a thin brush, a ruler and plumb line, and a clean rag.
Choosing glue
Remember that the thicker the wallpaper, the thicker the glue should be. Ask the seller for vinyl wallpaper glue. There should be enough glue to cover both the walls and the wallpaper itself. Dilute the glue strictly according to the instructions on the package, immediately before pasting.
Preparation
Remove other wallpaper from the wall. Remove the layer of old glue and remove any unevenness. Wash off dirt and dust. Let the walls dry completely. To avoid color distortion in the wallpaper, the wall can be painted with white paint.
Pasting
Trace the wall into rectangles to fit the wallpaper sheets. Apply glue to the wallpaper and wall and let it sit for ten minutes. Stick the first sheet according to the drawing. Glue the following sheets from left to right. Use a utility knife to remove white streaks at the joint. Make sure that no air or excess glue remains under the wallpaper; for this, constantly wipe the wallpaper with a clean cloth.
When all the sheets are glued on, leave them to dry. Avoid drafts and do not open windows in the room.
