What do I put in the holes when planting cabbage seedlings and get large heads of cabbage, save plants from a bear with the help of a shell

When planting cabbage, I always choose areas with loose, fertile and pH neutral soil. On acidic soil, the culture will not grow normally. I determine the pH of the soil using a litmus test or an electronic meter.

The acidic environment of the soil can be determined by the plants that grow in a particular area. You should not plant cabbage in the garden where you saw sorrel, wood lice, field horsetail.

I grow cabbage seedlings in plastic cups, in boxes and under a mini-greenhouse.

When planting in the holes, I bury the plants to the leaves. If the seedlings are very elongated, then you can cut off the lower leaves and deepen the sprout deeper.

If the plants were grown for seedlings in plastic cups, then they can easily transfer the transplant to open ground, because the roots are practically not damaged. You don't even need to shade them, especially if the sprouts are also hardened.

I add a handful of dolomite flour and eggshells (a source of calcium) to the holes for deoxidizing the soil, I don't grind it specially into powder, but small fractions become more digestible for the roots cabbage. At the same time, large parts to some extent protect the roots from the bear.

Eggshells protect cabbage roots from bear.

It is known that this pest is very fond of cabbage. If you put the shell in a hole when planting, without sparing, then it will be difficult for the bear to get close to the root system of the plant.

Since autumn, my garden has already been fertilized with humus and compost (3-4 buckets per 1 m2), ash (2-4 glasses per 1 m2.), So I add a little organic matter to the hole (a handful of compost and humus).

After planting the plants in the hole, I water them abundantly with water, then sprinkle humus around the planted seedlings, which will simultaneously serve as mulch (to retain moisture) and fertilizer. I also sprinkle eggshells on top of the soil so that pests do not penetrate to the roots from either side.
