I forgot about the ants on the Peonies. I tell you what secret the Neighbor shared and this help turned out to be just the way
Peonies have flaunted in my yard for several years. But recently I faced such a nuisance: ants are crawling on the unblown buds, and the aphids left by them horrified me.
Will I not be able to enjoy the look and rich aroma of these flowers? After the advice of a neighbor who has long overcome the invasion of insects, I also coped with this problem.
Chemicals
Before consulting with a neighbor, I resorted to an effective method of pest control. After sprinkling the buds with a chemical, I got rid of the ants for a while.
But I didn't expect to meet another army of pests. Later it turned out that a gel preparation would help to kill the ant colony. Diseased insects infect not only fellows, but also bees pollinating peonies.
Among a wide range of chemicals, you can find the most harmless ones that will take care of both the plant and beneficial insects.
Folk remedies
I was wary of traditional methods of pest control. But after the advice of a neighbor, who has tried more than one folk remedy, I changed my mind.
They are harmless to people, animals and the environment, which has become their significant advantage:
· Bay leaf. With a decoction on its basis, the buds are treated, which repels insects.
· Garlic. It is enough to mix the crushed plant with laundry soap and cover with warm water. The plant sprayed with such a mixture gives off an unpleasant odor, which forces the ants to leave the territory.
· Ammonia and vinegar. Despite the dubious ingredients, I was convinced of their effectiveness. Processing a peony with such a remedy did not harm the plant, but only overcame the problem.
· Boric acid. Mixing it with something sweet, you will forget about the invasion of ants for a long time. I dissolved honey and added it to boric acid.
I placed the container with the mixture near the bush and waited for the result, which soon pleased me.
You can choose a more effective method of struggle: find an ant's nest, dig it up to the larvae and fill it with a boiled acid solution.
· Wormwood or mint. The smells of such plants scare away insects. By planting them next to the peonies, you will help them avoid an attack by ants.
Pests are scared away by parsley, marigolds, tansy. If these plants do not fit into the composition of the flower bed, it is enough to spray the peonies with their infusion, previously steamed in boiling water.
Grow your peony wisely. Using the above methods, I grew luxurious flowers to my delight and the envy of my neighbor.
