Why peonies don't want to bloom beautifully. I'm talking about their whims. I've already fixed my mistakes

A fiery salute, comrades pion breeders!

Do you want to see the lush flowering of peonies, and in the garden - horns and legs? We must find a reason why the peony refuses to pick up numerous buds, as befits a plant in early summer. And fix the bugs. In the article you will find out why your favorite flower can be capricious and how to make it finally bloom for joy.

I had difficulties both with old peonies growing on the site from time immemorial, and with new, varietal ones. For several years I have shoveled a bunch of floricultural literature. And the results of the research - the most important - I will write here to you in a nutshell

The most harmless and obvious reason is young age of the plant. If 1-3 years have passed since the planting of the peony, then the meager flowering or its absence can be attributed to "youth".

Yes, one delenka will bloom the next year after planting. But the other can take up to 3 years. And this difference is completely normal. A young plant is primarily aimed at growing roots and green mass, not flowering. Add to that the first year stress of transplanting... Did you understand.

Another thing is when an adult bush, ready to bloom, gains only 2-3 buds or even 0. There is already a good reason to sound the alarm.

The stupidest reason my peony refused to bloom is the wrong planting. With the first grade, I messed up. The delenka should not be planted deeply and not close to the surface. The optimum depth is 5 cm. Otherwise, the flower buds will either freeze or rot and will not be able to come to the surface normally.

You've probably noticed that in the shade, the peony builds up an impressive green mass. Still, in order to catch enough ultraviolet radiation, you need more leaves. Peony - a true connoisseur of the sun. But the bush looks thin, and a couple of buds on numerous shoots are lonely

So it was with me. A pair of peonies under the apple trees, inherited from the previous mistress of my cozy garden, looked, to put it mildly, not entirely decorative

Peonies should be planted in the corners of the garden that are open to the sun. So the chances of proper flowering are much greater! Do not deprive your pets of the necessary light... Or don't expect decorative flowering.

Fortunately, peonies are not plants that need to be replanted frequently. But, sitting in one place for 10 years, the bush ceases to bloom as luxuriantly as before. Therefore, once every 10 years, peonies must be transplanted or renewed with the addition of nutritious soil with fertilizers to the planting pit. And then we smoothly moved on to the most interesting, comrades ...

Peony spends a lot of food on flowering. Left without fertilizer, it is unlikely to bloom adequately. Especially if he sits in one place for several years - he used up all the resources of the land. In the spring we give nitrogen, then phosphorus and potassium. On my channel I already wrote "A complete schedule of correct peony feeding" - I will give a link to it at the end of the article.

But the opposite situation also happens: fattening peony. Thick shoots and zero flowering. This means that someone has received too much nitrogen from organic matter. Usually, this problem occurs among summer residents who generously regaled the flowerbed with manure and ignore the introduction of "terrible chemistry" in the form of superphosphate and potassium salt.

So, to summarize:
- Make sure the peony is old enough and properly planted
- Answer honestly if the flower gets the sun it needs to bloom
- Transplant and / or renew "Perennial" by choosing a suitable place and adding food to the planting pit
- Provide the plant with complex feeding
- Enjoy blooming!
