Many of them took root and became classics, some did not even get a chance to exist, and some caused a lot of controversy. For example, polystyrene concrete is a material, as they say, for an amateur. Concept

It's been a long time since I got used to the theme of my favorite concrete. So, the basic concept is light, warm, durable, moisture-resistant, frost-resistant, environmentally friendly material. And also: practically - non-combustible, unpretentious to all kinds of steam, moisture and thermal insulation, crack-resistant, elastic, well soundproof, conveniently laid and not labor-consuming concrete.

Methods and fields of application of polystyrene concrete

Application method - monolith. Concrete prepared at the construction site and delivered to the place of application for laying.

Places of application: foundation, basement floor, slab, external and internal partition wall, pediment, flat roof, under-roof screed, layers and cavities for thermal insulation, technical floor (if at high-rise buildings), road base.

Advantages of polystyrene concrete

Advantages - perfect pore structure, perfect filler shape. High volumetric density of the cement matrix (approximately 25% of the total volume is almost 100% by weight). 75% of the volume does not absorb water at all (granules). The best porosity method is with a BB additive. The lowest equilibrium moisture content of the structure under equal conditions is comparable to aerated concrete.

Low labor intensity per cubic meter of concrete. Simplicity and availability of the production of polystyrene concrete mixture for any private developer. Easy delivery to the place of installation - even in large buckets. When pumping, no delamination. It adapts well to the thermal expansion of other building materials. Does not require a dew point output, does not require a special vapor barrier from the inside of the house as for AGB.

An excellent road base, moreover (for access roads, blind area, etc.) - does not suck in water, insulates the soil from freezing and perfectly distributes the load from the coating.

And the main thing that we are talking about here is that polystyrene concrete is a wonderful concrete for a monolithic construction method. The GOST for polystyrene concrete from 2016 clearly states: use in monolithic form allows you to use polystyrene concrete one grade higher (in terms of density) for the same heat engineering calculations as for the block (masonry) version construction.

Disadvantages...

Well, about the shortcomings, I have no doubt - many here will tell themselves, and I will try to reveal how wrong those who find shortcomings where there are none are wrong.
