How do I treat Apple trees from caterpillars after flowering. A really working method
As soon as the dizzying apple blossom has flown around, it is time for the gardener to get to work - in order for luxurious fruits to ripen on the trees on time, you need to work hard.
And one of the most pressing questions is what to do with the tracks? Personally, I have always been against store-bought chemicals - it is not known what nitrates will accumulate because of them later in apples!
Fortunately, a neighbor, a fan of apples with thirty years of experience in this business, shared with me an effective and simple method.
The main and not at all secret ingredient that is required is tomato greens. Most of the popular varieties grown require pinching and thinning of the green mass, so it is not difficult to get the right amount of tops.
The second plant you need is celandine. This ubiquitous plant is not as safe as tomato greens. Collect and cut large celandine must be strictly in gloves, as its milky juice irritates the human skin, as if "burning" it.
Tomato tops contain solanine, an extremely toxic and destructive substance not only for caterpillars, but also for many other pests that threaten apple trees.
Celandine also contains specific essential oils that repel harmful insects. That is, you can get rid of those caterpillars that have already gathered in the trees, as well as prevent the appearance of new ones.
To prepare a remedy from these two plants, you need:
· Pour 200 g of dried herb celandine in 1 liter of water and boil for 15 minutes;
· Pour 500 g of tomato tops with 5 liters of hot water and leave for 4 hours;
· Mix both liquids and add another 10 liters of clean water.
Then you can start processing the apple trees.
Based on personal experience, I can say that adding soap, as is often done, to the product for better adhesion to the leaves and twigs of apple trees is not necessary. But if you think you need it, it won't spoil anything.
You need to spray the apple trees 2-3 times with an interval of 5-7 days. Each spraying should be carried out in clear, as calm as possible weather. It can be evening or a cloudy day.
And since you have to work with celandine, it is necessary to put on clothes that cover the arms and legs of the body. It is also very desirable to close your eyes with special glasses - after all, when splashing, drops can accidentally fly off onto your face.
